Wdw Restaurants Health Watch

the other day on CBS..they did a "eat at your own risk" segment. they talked about wdw restaurants! the top 3 restaurants with problems were
1.Rainforest Cafe
2. Brown Derby
3.Wolfgang Puck

i was shocked! people were getting sick off everything! even the macoroni!

Re: Wdw Restaurants Health Watch

We have eaten at two of the three repeatedly over the years and never had a problem. On the other hand I got food poisining at a local pancake house that has a great reputation. Go figure.

Did the report say whether it was the Rainforest at AK or DtD? From the post on DC I've gotten the impression that AK's is so-so and DtD's is better. We had planned to go to DtD's because I know the kids would like it.

I am just going to say this as I have said before. This time every year CBS runs this segment. You have to remember how many people Disney feeds in a day. You have to think that a couple of people are bound to get sick, and claim or actually get food poisoning.

If you read the transcript of the report the complaints they are talking about happened 3 whole times over a year!! That's better odds than the local McDonalds I'd bet!!!!!

Re: Wdw Restaurants Health Watch

Please keep in mind this story was run durring sweps and not on an ABC station. What were you doing watching a staion other than ABC.

Disney does not want to make there guests sick. If you are sick in your room, you are not spending money in the parks.

Re: Wdw Restaurants Health Watch

Most of the violations seemed to be at buffets where there was a problem keeping food at the proper temprature. Keeping hot foods hot enough and cold food cold enough is a challenge. But so many people eat at these things that they are constantly replacing the food so I don't think it is a major problem.

Re: Wdw Restaurants Health Watch

In all the years that we have been visiting the happiest place on earth none of us has gotten sick from food or anything else for that matter.
It can't be easy to completely insure that any food is safe to eat because if one food handler doesn't wash his/her hands properly or sneezes or another customer sneezes at a buffet, etc. etc.,

So that is why we always give thanks for our food and ask God to bless it. Enough said.

Re: Wdw Restaurants Health Watch

That is all the news does these days - "Instill Fear in You". There is so much unnecessary reporting that is not news. I do feel bad for those who have gotten sick while vacationing at WDW but compared to how many people they feed a day, that is not a bad report. As with almost any restaurant, you sometimes take your chances.

Karlibug & palmtrees...did you watch the same show? Karlibug mentioned buffets but per palmtrees...the top 3 offenders were: 1.Rainforest Cafe 2. Brown Derby 3.Wolfgang Puck If I remember correctly...neither one of those are buffets. Were there other restaurants examined in the show that wasn't mentioned above? Just curious.

Besides...who's to say they actually got food poisoning? Maybe they got a doggie bag and left it on the table in the room and ate THAT the next day and got sick. Who knows...I've never had a problem with Disney food and I'm not about to stop eatting on vacation because of a slanted news report. Bring on the germies...I ain't scared!

Re: Wdw Restaurants Health Watch

CBS in New York runs a story like that every month about some type of eating place. WDW is one of the safest places to eat on earth. Try eating at a place outside of the U.S. of A. and your won't if you saw how other countries fix their food. Just remember that this is CBS that never check up or follows thru and see what the actions were taken. If you get a 70 or better you pass. The inspection on all these places were higher than 90 so don't worry. We been going since 1989 and never have been sick from the food.

Re: Wdw Restaurants Health Watch

I have also ate at two of the three and had no issues with feeling sick or being sick there or after the meal. My DD, however had a bad experience at breakfastsaurus in 2002. It was an isolated incident and I'm still not certain if it was the food or a big that she caught while at WDW that year. I get sick from all kinds of food. Any food with MSG or to many additives will make me vomit....big time. I have never had that happen at WDW...ever. People will say anything.....3 in one year is excellent stats considering the number of people these places feed in one single day. Those numbers would have to significantly rise for me to stop eating there.....quadruple and then some I think.

Re: Wdw Restaurants Health Watch

don't let a couple reports stop you. I'm sure the amount of resturaunts that go a year without ANY customers getting food poisoning. I'm sure it's next to nothing
