Rose and Crown or Cape May Cafe?
Which one would you choose for dinner? I like the looks of both of them. We are on the dining plan, so the cost is not an issue (we would actually get more value out of Rose & Crown). We are a group of 3 adults and 1 child (5 yo).
I'd like to know the good & the bad about both. Thanks for your help!

I don't think you could go wrong with either--can you fit both in? I haven't been to Cape May yet but it smelled so good last summer when we stayed at Beach Club. We are putting it on our list for this coming summer--I can't wait to try it.

Re: Rose and Crown or Cape May Cafe?
Well, we ate at the ol' Rose & Crown back in 2003 and thoroughly enjoyed it even though we were all soaked to the bone due to what we were told by staff was the worst downpour they had ever seen!
The food was wonderful (as were the English ales!!) and the wait staff were the usual Disney SUPERB! We will be making reservations to eat at the Rose & Crown again when we visit this year! As for the Cape May Cafe, I really don't know, because we've never eaten there!

Re: Rose and Crown or Cape May Cafe?
Always go for the more cost effective option when on plans, that is, if it will cost more than you paid up front, do it. I like Cape May for breakfast, but dinner left me cold. Haven't done Rose and Crown, but I have heard more good than bad about the place.

Re: Rose and Crown or Cape May Cafe?
I haven't been to Rose and Crown for dinner but we really enjoyed the Clam Bake at the Cape May Cafe'. I would highly recommend that. And I am sure you'll get a lot of thumbs up for the Rose and Crown. A lot of people here like it.

Re: Rose and Crown or Cape May Cafe?
Cape May is good, but it is still a buffett.
At R&C, if you can swing a later PS, around 7:30 or so, you can try for an outdoor table and hang there to watch Illuminations.

Re: Rose and Crown or Cape May Cafe?
I have never eaten at the Rose N Crown, but I looked at the menu. FYI Cape May is good, but they have done away with the bucket of crab legs. Even so, we plan on a return visit to Cape May.
If you choose Rose N Crown, try to get there two hours prior to Illuminations. They say that is one of the best seats for the show. |

Re: Rose and Crown or Cape May Cafe?
The Rose and Crown is one of our favorites -- especially when you can swing a patio table for Illuminations!

I have been to both numerus times, you can't go wrong either way but I would give the edge to Rose and Crown. Now you've gone and made me hungrey, darn it!

Re: Rose and Crown or Cape May Cafe?
I have eaten at both and prefer Rose and Crown. Cape May's seafood is so-so and can be quite loud. Plus with all of the people jockeying for position at the buffets, it can be quite hectic.

Re: Rose and Crown or Cape May Cafe?
Thanks so much for all the info! I am still undecided, though. We already have a PS for the Cape May Cafe, and since it may be too short of notice to get one for Rose & Crown, we may end up sticking with that.
Who knows what we'll do!! I'll be sure to report when we get home, though.
