CP or Ohana breakfast???

Ok...I have an 8:00am PS (on one of our MK days) for breakfast at O'hana. We've never eaten there and I've heard rave reviews....BUT I've read lots of great stuff lately on DC about Crystal Palace. We are fans of both sets of characters so Pooh vs Mickey is not a huge deciding factor. The fact we're heading to the MK that day is kinda making me want to try to change to CP. This may be a moot point as I'm 49 days out and an early PS for CP may not be available anyway...but if I could do the switch would you recommend it or not? Since we've never done either I'm sure we'll keep the one we don't do near the top of the list for our next trip.

Also, MK opens at 9:00 and it says that CP starts serving breakfast at 8:00 - so I guess you get early admission if you've got a PS. What are the chances (if an 8:00 PS is available and I do decide to switch) that we'll be done in time for the rope drop?

OK...I've rambled...bottom line...is Ohana's great enough that I shouldn't even consider switching this time or should I call to see if CP is even an option???

Thanks for the help!!

Re: CP or Ohana breakfast???

My DD and I did the O'hanna breakfast in January. We were more than pleasantly surprised with that breakfast. The characters and wait staff are awesome there. That was by far the best character meal we had last trip. Crystal Palace is a favorite of ours, but we never have received the character attention there that we got at O'hanna. At 8am, we were one of a few families in there. The place was deserted....ideal for character fun. Try and do both if you can. Excellent time at each.

Re: CP or Ohana breakfast???

Hey Allyson, I have never attended either breakfast but my family members & friends have and I know they loved both immensely. My mom couldn't stop raving how much she loved CP.

I am normally a die-hard 'Ohana fan, but since you are headed to MK that day I think CP makes a lot more sense for you. You won't have to worry about getting on the monorail and getting into MK in time for the rope drop. You will already be in there!

I would say if you can get an early PS, definitely go for CP!

Re: CP or Ohana breakfast???

CP is the only character meal we did, so I really cant compare them. But we loved every minute of it, and would/will do it again in a heart beat. We did dinner at Ohana's and that isnt a character meal, but the food was great. All in all I say..........do both, but if you cant go with CP since that is your park of the day.

Re: CP or Ohana breakfast???

Ok...couldn't resist...I called and booked a 8:05 PS for CP!! I am going to wait until DH gets home and be sure it's okay with him before I decide for sure (I didn't cancel the O'hana one yet!) -- but I also forgot to mention that this is on May 5th (the first day of HCOE!) so it'll be a great day to be at MK!

I'm interested to know more about the MK rope drop. When we finish breakfast at CP where do we go for the rope drop? I wonder if it'll be extra special since it's the kickoff of HCOE...where's the best to place to be???

The rope drop is all around into the different lands. The official opening ceremony happens near the train station on Main Street, but the actual ropes are near the entrances to the different lands. If you place yourself right at the beginning of the castle near Fantasy Land, hurry into Tinkerbell's Treasures. The first person in gets to wake up Tinkerbell....it's adorable to watch if you don't make it in first. Try and rebook that O'hanna for another park day. It's really a great character breakfast. If not, definately try going there for dinner one night...it's fabulous!

Haven't done anything at Ohana yet, maybe on our next trip, but Crystal Palace has one huge buffet selection, and we try not to miss it.

Re: CP or Ohana breakfast???

We have a 7:30am PS at O'Hanas on a Sunday. MK opens at 9am that day. Will we be timing it alright? What do we do- take a boat from Poly over to MK? Do you still have to wait in a long line at the entrance? Never did this before, so excuse me if I sound stupid. Also, on our last day at WDW, we have PS at 8am at Crystal Palace. So, we'll already be inside the park before it opens. How's the best way to get from CBR to these early seatings? I sure do hope special busses run early for breakfasts at MK. When they say bus to MK, where does that let you off- at the TTC? What time would we need to leave CBR in order to make the 7:30am breakfast at O'Hana's? HELP!!!

Re: CP or Ohana breakfast???

We have done the O'hana and really liked it. The characters seem to spend quite a bit more time with each table. The food, served family-style was also very good.

Whoa!! Full of questions, aren't you?? Just teasing, of course!

From MK to Poly for your dinner you could take the boat or the monorail.

We have an 8:00am PS at CP and we're going to ask at the front desk to see when the buses will start running and if need be, we'll get a taxi to be sure we make it in time. The bus to the MK lets you off at MK, not TTC. As for your 7:30am breakfast at O'hana you'll probably need a taxi as going from resort to resort that early will not be easy via Disney transportation.
That didn't answer all your questions, but those are the only ones I feel qualified to give my input on! Have a great trip!!

Re: CP or Ohana breakfast???

Thanks, Allyson. I'm trying to be as organized as I can (maybe being a little too worried or over anxious?) Your input was great. Guess we'll just have to ask at the front desk. I'll have to make up a list of questions for them so I don't forget anything.

Re: CP or Ohana breakfast???

I was going to vote for Ohana's but you already decided, LOL!

We ate at CP for dinner and Ohana's for dinner too. This time around I want to try Ohana's character breakfast.
I liked both buffet's but like the atmosphere of Ohana's. It is alot of fun and they play fun games with the kids.

You asked about transp. I ate a few resorts for breakfast and headed over to the parks afterwards with no problem. Granted, we weren't in a hurry to be the first ones in the park and we did not book any breakfast's real early. I either drove to the parks or at the end of the trip, I parked at the resort and hopped on the monorail which I thought was much quicker. I did not try any buses as I dont have the patience for them.

Have Fun!! Let us know how you like them both!!!
you'll love Ohana's!!

I think you should take a taxi for a 7:30am PS and then take the monorail over to the park.
I haven't taken the bus before so that's the best I could answer.
