Re: L'Originale Alfredo of Rome

I've eaten there twice, and Pete and I both liked it very much. It was the first place we ate together on our honeymoon And then we had dinner there on our first wedding anniversary.

Re: L'Originale Alfredo of Rome

Personally, this is the one restaurant we'd never eat at again. We thought it was very mediocre food that they were trying to disguise with masses amount of sauce and cheese. Way, way too much! Though the portions were huge, it was very expensive. We all felt sick after dinner. The service was ok, if a bit hurried. The noise level was really loud.

Re: L'Originale Alfredo of Rome

DH and I ate there on our honeymoon as well, and haven't been back since. (We got married in 98.) We were not very happy with the service or the food. I try not to be to quick to judge (since I too am a server and have been since I was 15 off and on) , but it just wasn't good. Maybe they were having an off day who knows!

Re: L'Originale Alfredo of Rome

We went there two years ago and loved it. We definitely plan to go back. We are big eaters of places like Macaroni Grill and Olive Garden and felt that it was defitiely better than that. To us it was definitely like going to Italy without having to actually go there. My DD fell in love with our waiter's accent, she kept asking him things just to hear him talk. I thought that it was no more expensive than any other sit down restaurant at Disney, but then again that's the way it is at Disney.

Re: L'Originale Alfredo of Rome

We used to eat there every trip (the Alfredo sauce was great!), but we really think the restaurant has been slipping. Our last couple of experiences have seemed overpriced, overcrowded, with mediocre, extremely bland food. It's an expensive place, and we just couldn't justify spending so much money for such a tepid experience anymore. There are much better choices in the World Showcase, like Rose and Crown Restaurant, that I'd recommend.

Re: L'Originale Alfredo of Rome

My MIL had the hots for the waiter...the food was good, not great. It was the most expensive meal we had at Disney but we really did enjoy it. I don't think we'd go back, though. (My MIL would - to look for the waiter!) It was a decent meal and I won't say we disliked any part of it (although the service - which was good - was pretty slow that night and we missed Illuminations) it is not a place we're dying to go back to.

We love the marinara sauce here... we make it a must-do every trip (sometimes a must-do-twice!)

Tragic I've seen people ask about this restaurant before. People are really split on it, you might just have to take a gamble

My thoughts exactly.
I have asked about this place in the past and it's very mixed. I am taking a shot and trying it out in May.

Re: L'Originale Alfredo of Rome

We went there just to eat a plate full of calamari. They were very good. We sat outside, but when our server realized that that's all we were having he wasn't very attentive any more.
Their menu sounded intriguing. Had he not changed his attitude so drastically, we could have been persuaded to have other things.
We'll try again on the next trip

oops, we also had plates full of tomatoes and mozarella....

Re: L'Originale Alfredo of Rome

I agree that the place is overpriced, but most Americans don't know what real Italian food is like. The try to Americized it too much. We eat there just about every time either for lunch or dinner. I perfer lunch outside over dinner inside. We were stationed in Italy for two years so when we are there we know where of waiter and waitress are from most of the time and we talk to them in Italian alot so we alway had excellent service there. Ask them for suggestions and try to learn a little Italian before you go there even if you butcher the words they will still go out of their way to make you dining experience something to remember. They appreicate you trying to learn their language. The are really beautiful people we hated to leave.
