viewing Wishes from California Grill

Just in case anyone else was wondering-I just got off the phone with the California Grill and they told me that they still do dim the lights and pipe in the music for Wishes! I was told that the only reason they wouldn't would be due to technical difficulties. He did say that the lights are not dimmed as much as before.

I would love to do this some time, but not until the kids are older.

If Wishes begins at 7pm, what time should we make our PS for? Thanks!

I'd say make a 5:30 PS, that way you've been seated, ordered, and you'll be winding down to the end of your meal as the show starts. Perfect end to the night!

Becareful....I was told this same thing for my 'Ohana PS....and there was no dimming lights...no music...in fact the little DJ guy kept on talking right through the show. When I asked the waiter (who by the way was a terrible waiter) why they didn't do it...they said they never do it....which was a lie......

Re: viewing Wishes from California Grill

DH and I did this last year and it was amazing. They also have an outside viewing area so you get the full effect of music and the firework noises as well as seing GF and POLY all lit up. The food is incredible there too. This is now a must do every year for us and after 8 trips together, I am so sorry that it took us this long to discover it.

Re: viewing Wishes from California Grill

When we got married in Disney back in 2002 we had our reception at the Calif Grill and they did dim the lights for the fireworks. It was really neat cause the music was playing. It's so awesome. I havent been to the Calif Grille since then but I hope that they still do this.

Re: viewing Wishes from California Grill

I dined at the California Grill a couple of months ago, and the lights were dim and you could hear the music inside. It was a nice view, but get there way before the show starts. We had PS for 5:45 P.M., and we barely got seated for the show at 7 P.M. Also, don't mind the dress code. Everyone was dressed down in shorts and t-shirts. We probably will not visit the CG again. Food is okay, but way overpriced. Kids were running around all night. No piece and quiet. Good luck.

Re: viewing Wishes from California Grill

I am so glad they still do this. I had heard that they had stopped dimming the lights and playing the music. Our meal at the California Grill on our "girls only" trip was one of the big highlights for us that we still talk about. Great food, great view, great service and seeing Wishes ws just the cherry on top of everything!

Re: viewing Wishes from California Grill

for our last two trips, we ate at the California Grille and watched wishes from there. it's wonderful. the lights are dimmed, the music is piped in, service stops for everyone to enjoy the show. and it's a great spot to see the show. you don't miss anything. you'll love watching wishes from CG.

Re: viewing Wishes from California Grill

We dined at Cal Grill on mothers day and it was great! They definately dimmed the lights and piped in the music. Our waiter told us that they stopped doing it for about 3 weeks for some reason and then went back to playing the music! It was a very nice evening yet it is very expensive! We got a window seat and the view was wonderful! DD11 and I went out to the observation deck for wishes and DD24 stayed in with the baby! She said it was very nice from inside also! We almost weren't able to get back to POFG after dinner because it was late! The busses were'nt running from the MK any longer so we headed for a bus to Downtown Disney figuring we could get on a boat from there to POFQ. When the DD bus came, the bus driver asked where we were going and offered to just take us to POFQ!

Yeah, this is a problem. I've gotten jammed by Disney Transport a few times because they don't run direct bus service to all points from all points. You got lucky that your driver wasn't under directions to get to point "B" and was able to alter his route and drop you. After eating at the Yacht Club, with Epcot closed, there was no way for us to get back to the Contemporary on the monorail and instead took a cab because it would be quicker than going to Dowtown Disney and changing buses for the Contemporary. Also, remember you can't get from the parks directly to other parks or DTD. From Epcot you have to exit south to the Beach, Yacht, or Boardwalk for those buses and from the MK, you'd need to walk to the Contemporary for more rapid transit.

Re: viewing Wishes from California Grill

Someone posted on another site that no matter what time you dine at California Grill you are allowed to return to watch the Wishes Fireworks if you show your receipt.

Has anyone here done that or heard of it being done?
