I booked my PS for the Luau dinner show last week for my arrival date 10/29!!!
I hope I didnt make a mistake in booking the Luau over the HDD but I reallly want to go to the Luau. Maybe next time I will do the HDD.
Now, I had my choice of 2 seatings, 5:15pm or 8:00pm and I booked the 8pm show because I heard it is better when it's "dark" out.
It will be my arrival day in Orlando, and I hope to book my airline tickets soon, and Iam hoping for a 7:30am flight out of EWR arriving MCO around 10:30am or so. We will be tired and hungry by 8pm but I also wanted this to be a day to kick back and enjoy the resort a little.
Do you guys think I should change to the 5:15 show or take a nap at the hotel after check-in after a Big Lunch and where is a good place to eat a big lunch like that? I will be on the new dining plan but dont want to use up a meal option for lunch that day as I will lose 2 meals for the Luau show.

You will have to let us know how you like the Luau...I have done the HDD twice, but never done the Luau. I think you made the right choice to do it at 8; I bet it will be all the more magical when it's dark out!

Maybe you could just snack for lunch? I bet you will want to save PLENTY of room for the Luau. We usually avoid lunch on days we do the HDD, just snack intermittently so we're ravenous by showtime. Makes the food taste all the better!

WE couldn't make up our minds either. But we went with the HDD as everyone said this was better for kids.

We went with the HHD but I would love to hear about the Luau because we wanted to do that too but did not have the time to do both!

I think you made a good choice with the 8 p.m. reservation. This will allow time for delays and the chance to have a little nap. I've never been to the Luau, but I'm sure it'll be lots of fun! Have a good time!

Yes! Ive always wanted to do the Laua but honestly ive been scared away by the not so wonderful reviews on allearsnet.com So if it is magical please inform us ASAP!

I would love to hear how it went. But seems we are going the sametime. I was told the Back Yard Barbecu and HDD was better for kids. But I would love to hear how it was so I can maybe consider on my next trip to Disney!

Also I think 8pm is good. Relax at the pool etc for the day when you get in. Refreshed for a night out!

Congrats on booking the Luau. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this. You shoudl be fine with the later show. Even if you can't get the first flight into Orlando, you are giving yourself amble time for checking in getting settled etc. I think you are best off with the later show personally. you never know with the airlines.

Same here, I was scared off too. I was hemming and hawing for months about this, and just said what the hey!!! Iam doing it!!!
My daughter will like the dancing aspect of it, and we all like the ambience of the Poly! I hear they call kids on stage to dance too and that is right up her alley!!

where are you staying? And you have to meet up with us for the M&G! There is a thread in chitchat.

I know somebody that did the Backyard BBQ and said (of course) it was wayyyy over priced for hamburgers and hot dogs but was cute. She also did the Luau which I believe she liked. She has 3 kids. I have to ask her again how she liked it, this is my friend's sister.

Oh and 1 of the nurses from where I work was at Disney last week, she stayed at SSR and she did the HDD and said her kids loved it!!! She said it was alot of fun and her family laughed thru the whole thing!

I personally am not in the mood to spend $49 for ribs and fried chicken, the Luau is more my scene. I rather go to Flametree BBQ at AK for some good BBQ food (dying to go here).

Iam still biting my nails over these flights. Won't be in peace till their booked!!!
I just hope some good airfares come out SOON for EWR on Continental or maybe Song. Things can't be as bad as they were last year. My PS for Ohana's was at 6:30pm and I was 10mins late thanks to USAIR!!
That was a 11:00am Flight we had, so Iam playing it safe and am planning on booking the early flight, I just need a mid day nap, being that I turned into an old fogey, and if I dont get enough sleep, I get cranky!

I was considering the Luau myself. As much as I'd like to see what the HDD is all about, our family hates barbecue. Asian food is much more our style.

I'd love to hear about your experience.

I'd go with the 8pm dinner too. 5pm cuts your day too short.

I'm staying at PC. My whole family is going. We are going under a Magical Gathering. Also I think the BYBQ is fun only because I'm a camper. We have other PS made. Kids will be as young as 2 so I thought Laua would not be much fun. Now my DD would probably like it.

As for the meet. I've been reading. Just waiting to see the date before I can say yes. Since we already have somewhat of a scheudle planned out. They call me the Curise director!

I see you are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. My parents favorite. I think our next trip will be there. So make sure you do the trip report I want all the detail on this place.
