PS Choices

Okay, I think I have a pretty good idea of where I want to eat now, but since I have never been to WDW, I want to know if these are good choices. My sister and I decided to do about 4-5 table service meals during our 7 day stay.

My Choices
Crystal Palace--character breakfast (I made PS this morning)
The Brown Derby--lunch
Rose and Crown--lunch or dinner
Whispering Canyon--which meal is best to go for?

I will actually be there for 12 days total between my actual vacation and then a business convention at the Dolphin. So I will have lots of time to experience more restaurants, but my sis is a picky eater so I am trying to find some "safe" choices for our meals together. Any other suggestions?

Re: PS Choices

We liked breakfast better at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Dinner was fine but breakfast was good.

Have you thought about the Plaza Restaurant? You can make a PS there. It's a quiet little restaurant in MK. The menu is simple but the food is good and the service is excellent. Here is the memu: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_pr.htm

Re: PS Choices

You may want to make your R&C PS at night to reserve a front row seat for Illuminations.

None of the MGM themed restaurants appeal to you? 50's Prime Time or Sci-Fi Dine In?

I have heard the food is really bad at the Sci-Fi so we avoided that one. As far as 50's, it looks fun, but with just me and my sister, I don't think we would really get into the act. Plus we both LOVE Cobb salad and want to try the Brown Derby.

Re: PS Choices

For two adults, the Brown Derby is a good choice. Very classy. I don't know if I'd do a dinner at the Rose & Crown - I'd stop by the pub for a drink, but I would do dinner at Le Cellier.

All great choices.
I'd try a later dinner at Rose & Crown, then try and stay for Illuminations.

What time should I try for Rose and Crown to see Illuminations?

Depends on the time of Illuminations over your trip. Both times that I have been to Rose and Crown we usually make our PS's at 7:50---and Illuminations began at 9 and 9:30...
I would def. recommend the R & C it's my favorite rest. of all time...

With the exception of Holiday season when they have nightly showings of the Candlelight Processional, Illuminations is always shown at 9:00pm. We make our PS for the R&C at 7:30pm, arrive up to 30mins before that, and specify that we are willing to wait for an outside seat for Illuminations. I'd be a little nervous to book any later than that, for fear that all the waterside tables would be gone.

Re: PS Choices

If you are going to do dinner in EPCOT, I suggest Les Chefs de France. We've eaten their numerous times, and the food is great! (best escargot ever) Make PS for 7pm....it will take about 2 hours to eat...and you can come right out of the restaurant and get a good seating for Illuminations. We follow this practice the last few times we've visited EPCOT...and its worked to perfection.

Another place I would hit thats not super expensive (such as California Grill) is Portobello Yacht Club. You will do yourself a service buy eating there. Trust me...the food is phenomenal.

Re: PS Choices

We always do R&C for dinner. In fact my 8 year old son always asks to eat here, it is one of his favorites. We always make PS for around 7:30PM and usually by the time we get seated and finish dinner, it is time for Illuminations.

Always keep in mind that everyone has different taste in foods, so review the menus before deciding.

Re: PS Choices

Good choices you have made. If you are going to see Fantasmic, try booking the Fantasmic Dinner Package when making your PS at the Brown Derby.

We are going to try Whispering and CP on this trip for the first time. Can't wait!
