Trails End
Trails end buffet for lunch is the food good. You can ride a boat over to it from the MK? Is it crowded and what time should I go. Plan on going the day we are at the MK.

I have heard from several sources that the food there is wonderful. There should be boat service to the resort from the Magic Kingdom, though I believe that it doesn't run as often as the other boats. You may want to ask when you arrive at the MK for the day. It shouldn't be too crowded for lunch, any time would be ok if you have a PS.

Although I'm not answering your direct question about lunch at Trails End, I wanted to let you know of our experience with the place.
This place is not to be missed. We always go over in the late afternoon (when it's hot!) Being under the shade trees feeling the breeze is so great! First we go to the petting farm and then to the general store. Then we eat an early dinner (5:00) at Trails End and then let the kids play at the playground (right next to Trails End) and we sit and watch the peacocks (look for the solid white one!). After that is up to you, you can stay at Fort Wilderness and do a hayride and then the campfire or take a boat to the Magic Kingdom for a cool evening of rides, parades and fireworks. We always have a hard time deciding which one to do! Like I said, I've never been to Trails End for lunch, but we have never missed Trails End for dinner. The food is like "home cooking" and there is really something there for everyone, even the pickiest eater (our 7 year old son!!!) (BTY...try the chili! mmm) Have a good time!!! It's getting really close -- 16 days to go!!

The Trails End...
Oh my...It is very good. I like to call it Comfort Food! And it is also rather well priced in comparison to other resturants at Disney. But its all you can eat breakfast that does it for me. Of course now, I often stay at Fort Wilderness, and that makes breakfast down right convenient but all the websites have several things missing off the menu for breakfast. There has always been an omlet maker person. There is also a belgian waffle maker (the real deal with the malted flour!) and a crepe maker person too. Then you add in the buffet with all the traditional stuff and unlimited refills of Squeezed by the table OJ. My waiter on my last trip was a Native American gentleman who was the best service I could hope for. And it was Breakfast! Wait wait wait! My wife reminded me that we also were able to get grits! Golden yellow and sifted! Yall, I felt right at home. I hope nothing has changed. It was 4 years ago. I'm about to go nuts to get back.

trails end
I just read the posts on the Trails End which sound wonderful. I have never been in the Fort Wilderness area, so I have some very basic questions. What is the easiest way to get to the area if you are staying at a different resort ( I'll be at the Beach Club Villas)? Would it be worth a try to get there from the resort or is it better to go from MK when you are there? I always like to try new places to eat and it sounds like Trails End is a must.
Thanks for any help, graybill |

Graybill...it seems to me that the quickest way to FW (from BCV)would be by way of the parks during regular park hours. You can catch a bus (AK, MGM, EP) or boat (MK) to FW from there. I'm not sure what would be the best way before park hours, but after park hours transferring buses at DD would probably be best.
We love FW, and especially love Trails End for breakfast. You have got to try the fried apples and fresh biscuits...my favorite!

trish
Thanks for the Trails End info! It sounds like it would be well worth the effort to make a trip there for any meal, but breakfast sounds like a real winner. If we get there this Dec I'll let you know about our experience. Thanks again, graybill |

Re: Trails End
Zombie Thread Alert!!!!!!!
As this is a 5 year old thread, there is a change in transportation to FW from MK. There are now two direct boats from MK to Bay Lake. One goes directly to WL and the other goes directly to FW. In addition there is a shuttle launch that runs from Contemporary to WL to FW and back to Contemporary. Service is greatly improved.
