We got very lucky both times we tried to make a PS from the resort that morning before we left for the park. The first was for lunch at Biergarten, the second for lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. We got the times we asked for as well!

That's a great tip. We did that at St. Angel Inn and it was just like eating an early dinner. And you're right, the lunch menu is significantly cheaper.
