Victoria & Alberts VS ???

Is there any where other than V & A's where you can get a little dressed up and go out and enjoy a quite, intimate dinner for two that isn't going to cost $200.00 plus for the meal. I am sure it would be nice to do once but I am having trouble wanting to pay that price. Also V & A's offers a Specialty Celebration cake for an additional fee. Anyone ever done this?

Re: Victoria & Alberts VS ???

Artist's Point at the WL, the Flying fish at the boardwalk and Portabello's at DTD are all suppose to be great places for a romantic dinner. If you go later at night, you can dress up and take a trip to PI after to enjoy the clubs. If you are celebrating an occassion, just inform them when you make the PS and then again when you check in., You may not get the entire cake, but you may be pleasantly surprised with some extra CM attention. The Hollywood Brown Derby at MGM is a very adult atsmosphere too. Not a bad place to have a nice dinner. Also consider the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort. Go later on in the evening around the time of wishes and have a nice dinner while watching the fireworks.

Great choices, Dana. We are going to Flying Fish for the first time this summer.

Re: Victoria & Alberts VS ???

California Grill. you don't have to dress up too fancy. you can dress up in dressy casual, like guys can wear a polo shirt and a pair of docker pants. great food. excellent view. prices are decent. you have a menu to choose what you want to have for dinner, unlike V & A's where the menu is picked for you. it's also a great place to see Wishes. highly recommend California Grill.

Re: Victoria & Alberts VS ???

Thanks for all the info. I am worried about the food at V&A's as I do not eat much seafood. The California Grill and fireworks sound good. Can you see the fireworks from inside? Or can you request a seat near the windows?

Spoodles has a great Mediterranian flavor. In the evening it's cozy, with a warm atmosphere. The food is great.

Re: Victoria & Alberts VS ???

I was just discussing this with a colleague at work the other day. He is a DVC member and often rents points to other colleagues.

I went this last April to V&A's, and it was wonderful. Yes, it is expensive, and for that reason, I put it off for a long time - many years. But you have to go at least once, because it is incomparable. If you are afraid of seafood, simply tell them that. They will call you the day before your reservation anyway to see if you have any special dietary needs. My wife mentioned that she sometimes has a bad reaction to coconut milk, thinking, "What is the chance that that would matter", but she said it anyway. Well, it turns out that something on the planned menu acutally had that in it, and they made a special menu for her with a special entre without coconut milk.

I'm sure if you said that you had a problem with seafood, that they would make a special menu for you. You are paying a tremendous amount of money to eat at the very best restaurant in WDW, in fact in Central Florida, by many authorities. You will be able to specify the type of food you want, I'm sure, no problem!

Having said that, my colleague said that he has had several good experiences right next door at Citricos. It is Mediterranean Cuisine, and I believe that they share a kitchen with V&As. He said that it was fabulous, and he even liked the Italian dishes, and that's saying a lot, since he is New-York-Italian-American, and generally it is very hard to please these people (not insulting, because they will all admit it themselves - it is good to be discerning) when it comes to Fine Italian Cuisine.

It's only $$$ on the official WDW web site ($30-$75), so that's a lot less than V&As. I'm sure the attention you get is not the same, and you won't get 7 courses with 5 wine parings for that price, but nevertheless, although I haven't dined there personally, I'm told that it's very good.

I ate at Citricos on my honeymoon, and is was very good. The food was great, the atmosphere was very romantic, and we really really enjoyed it.

Tell ya what, I'll do a nice beer over in Epcot. At dinner, I'm more of a red wine guy.

Or Sangria (Vino con frutti) at Portobello's. Yummy!

Re: Victoria & Alberts VS ???

NOT THE SAME AT ALL!!!!!! It's so cool to order a half-yard in Narcoossee's and have all the snooty ladies sneer at you over their martinis.

The Bistro de Paris - the small restaurant in France (it's upstairs), (don't confuse it with the Chefs de France) is very intimate and romantic.

Sometimes, asking a question is like opening Pandora's box.

I think that either Citricos or Narcoossee's would fit the best b/c it's still at the GF.
