Reservations for a moderately large crowd

I just started making our reservations for our Sept 30th trip. We will be a group of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids) which I do not consider to be a really large group. I called today right at the 90 day mark to make reservations at LeCellier and was told either 5:50 or 8:50 for a table of 7. We had many more choices if we didn't mind being split up.

This all is not a big deal but it is slightly annoying. I think WDW needs to rethink its table sizes. Seven people is not a large group, why are there not more options??

FYI - Still happy to be making my reservations.

Re: Reservations for a moderately large crowd

I had a similar problem booking for 8 and 10 people for our trip. Our best option was to book the time we wanted but split up at 2 tables. I hope to be next to each other if not at the same table. I'll let you know when I get back.

Re: Reservations for a moderately large crowd

I traveled with 7 or 8 people a few times.
Many of our AR's were made under the assumption that we'd be split up, but we never were.

I have heard/read the same thing. I am not worried about it, if we get split I am fine with that but I don't think we will be.

Re: Reservations for a moderately large crowd

We went with a party of 7 last year and were told the same thing. I don't think we ever were actually split up. When we showed up at our PS's, they always managed to find a place for us together. I think it's another way of covering their butts just in case they have to split you up.

Re: Reservations for a moderately large crowd

I just made a PS at LeCellier for Oct 1 for our group of 5 and 8:30 was as early as she said they could book us. I actually booked two separate PS's (one for a party of 3 and another - in a different name - for a party of 2) for LTT on October 2 - just to get close to the time we wanted. I figure we'll show up together and see what they can do...if we have to separate, it'll be fine.

We traveled with 8 a few years ago. We made all of our PS with the idea that we would need to split up. We were seated together every time. I would make it the time that you wanted

I think that's true.

Don't forget that it's fairly common for folks to simply not show up for a reservation. Personnally, I think that's rude and I always call at least an hour in advance to cancel a reservation. But promising to keep a group together means that the restaurant would have to push two tables together ahead of time and keep them that way. So, that promise can really only be made at the beginning or the end of the dinner rush.

But Disney will always be as accomidating as possible.

Skwak, buy the DDE card. I guarantee you will make your money back in this one meal with that many people.

Re: Reservations for a moderately large crowd

I'm not Jenny but I'll answer this. The card gives you a 20% discount at selected restaurants, mostly sit down restaurants. It's good for up to 10 people in your party. You have to be an AP holder or a Florida resident to order it. The card is $50 for AP holders and you have to have either your AP or an AP voucher to order the card..
