Should I not go to CG?

In a previous thread, someone advised me to skip going to calif. grill with hubby and DD and going to Ohana's at the poly because it is much more "family friendly." DH and I thought it would be nice to have one or two "formal meals"-and I thought going to CG with the fireworks view would be awesome. Can you see wishes from Ohana's? Should I not take DD to the grill?

Also, not sure if I still want to do Coral Reef or if I should try something else in WS. I get the feeling here that not too many people are fans of the Reef, especially since it's a double dinner credit restaurant, and apparently not the best. What else would you recommend (I can never spell that word correctly!)?

Re: Should I not go to CG?

If you want to go to CG with your daughter go for it. There will lots of other kids there, you're at WDW. You can see Wishes from 'Ohana but I don't think the two places compare. Your 3 year old (Am I right, she's 3?) would like 'Ohana but I think she would enjoy it more if she was just a little older.

You can see Whishes from 'Ohana (I have never been to the California Grill so I couldn't really help you with that one)
As far as World Showcase i LOVE The Rose and Crown but it's not as fancy as Coral Reef....I think Le Cellier, The Italy Resturant and Cantina de San Angel are good choices!!

Re: Should I not go to CG?

Keep your dinner at CG if you have your heart set on it. O'hanna also has a fireworks view, but as DT says, I don't think it compares to the one at the CG. Your DD would enjoy ohanna's coconut race and hoola loop contest, so there that to consider too. Have you and your DH thought about letting your DD go to one of the kid clubs at the resorts? Mom and DAd could have a nice formal dinner and your DD can have a kid dinner at the club and meet some kids to play with for an hour or two. The clubs are great and well staffed. I have used them on two occassions and was thrilled with them. Just a suggestion. Which ever way you do it will be fine. You are at WDW....everything can be kid friendly.

Re: Should I not go to CG?

My daughter will be just shy of two (2) when we go. I don't think the kids clubs take them that small...and I really don't feel comfortable calling in one of those babysitting companies the resorts use (I know they aren't actually WDW companies, but I don't know much else...never bothered to look further). For as much as a nice couples dinner would be, I think we are going to have to do the family thing this time, and maybe next year I can get her in to Kids clubs. I think I will keep CG, but I'm gonna ditch the Reef and go for either Rose & Crown, or San Angel for dinner, with the Illuminations view.

If you are going to be at the Polynesian, it is better if you go out by the lake side and what the Wishes from there. We have done this a couple of times and it is a great spot!

I agree...you can't see the fireworks from every table in Ohanas...the beach at the Poly is a GREAT place to view them!!

Re: Should I not go to CG?

California Grill is Great! We never miss it. My DD11 picked it for her birthday dinner this fall. It is very kid friendly, not stuffy. Last time we were there I saw a few little ones sleeping while their parents dined. It's a nice way for a young child to see wishes because sometimes they get scared seeing the fireworks up close.(or from the noise) Enjoy your meal!

That's a really good point! And, I could never be so lucky to have her take a nap for dinner...but hey, it is called wishes, right?!
