What is the best dinner show?

I was going to use one of our dining meals to see a dinner show. Which ones can be used and which is the best?

Disney offers 2 dinner shows, the Luau and the Hoop Dee Doo. I have never been to the Luau but we love HDD. The food is good; fried chicken ribs, corn, baked beans, salad, bread, and the best strawberry shortcake I have ever tasted. The show is corny but very funny.

I think both shows are 2 sit down meals with the dining plan.

Have only been to Hoop Dee Do, are you going with kids? kids would probably like the Hoop Dee Do, better than the Luau. Havent been to Luau, but if I were there without kids, I would chose that one.

I have a son he will be 8 when we go. Who is at the luau and the HDD?

There are no characters at either one if that's what you mean by who is there. Mickey's Backyard BBQ has characters. When we were there it was Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Goofy I think. We liked the BBQ but we went in July and it was too hot for us to really enjoy eating that much food.

As far as your question goes though Jen, I have not been to either but really want to try the Luau. Heard some fab reports re this one

The BBQ is at Fort Wilderness outside under a large shelter. The service is buffet; ribs, baked chicken, hot dogs, corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, corn bread, watermelon, marble cake, plus beer, wine, lemonade, and iced tea. I think the food was actually better than the HDD.

The food was sooo good but it was just too hot in July. At about $40 per adult it's a pretty good way to spend an evening.

I went to the Luau in 2000 and the Hoop De Do on my first Disney trip (a long , long time ago). If I had to choose between the two, I would probably pick the Hoop De Doo. I was only five and I still remember it so it must have been entertaining. I don't remember much about the food. The food at the luau was just ok, if you ask me and there seemed to be a lot of down time during the actual Luau show.

Don't forget Mickey's Backyard Barbque. Of the 3 it's our favorite...and the only one with characters. They actually come out & line dance with the guests. It's awesome!

Thanks, I did forget about! (I covered above in a little detail.) We also loved the BBQ but it was just too hot when we went to truly enjoy it.
