questions on making ADR

I've never done this on the phone. Last time (03), we just walked up to the few TS places we ate at. These ADR would be for my son and brother and they are at the 80 day mark, so I could do all 6 meals at once. Can you do all 6 days at once or do you have to call back for each one? Trying to pin down my son to actually think about this is like pulling teeth. He thinks it's crazy to have to make ADR three months in advance. How prepared do you think I will need to be with second, third, and fourth choices? The hardest ADR will be at Canada I think. Any tips or hints will be helpful. Thank you.

Re: questions on making ADR

You will be able to make all your ADRs in one call. I think having a back up is going to be important right now because of the free dining. I have been reading another board and people are having trouble getting some places right at the 90 day point. If there is someplace you really want be flexable and make that ADR first so you can work around it if you get it.

As long as you aren't trying for CRT or Victoria & Alberts -- you shouldn't have much trouble, you may just have to be a little flexible with specific times. You can book them all at once. My DH thinks it's crazy too, but he isn't complaining when we walk right up and get at table at places we otherwise wouldn't be able to get seated at!!

Re: questions on making ADR

I made all our ADR/PS's at the 90 day mark and had no trouble. You can definately do them all in one call. Friends of ours just came back from a week trip and said the biggest mistake they made was not calling ahead for PS. They didn't get to eat at most of the places they wanted, and said they even ended up not even using up the dining plan credits because they couldn't get it. My theory is, make all the PS you want. If you don't want them later, great, cancel. Someone will surely snag up a last minute spot. And if you want to change your times or something later, there is no harm in calling back closer to the trip to see if it's a possibility to move around. And if not, atleast you have something.

Re: questions on making ADR

I plan to make ADR's at the places (read STEAK) that they would most likely eat. And make a card for my son's wallet with all the conformation numbers, times, and the number to cancel. They are going the first week in Oct., so maybe if they want to change their mind to something else, it won't be that busy. Thanks everybody. Although I've been to disney several times (mostly 1985-1995), I feel like it's almost the first time with all the changes this last year.

Re: questions on making ADR

Hey, I did 8 reservations in one call. The CM was very patient and friendly. As said previously, probably (definitely) CRT character meal, BF and lunch, are the only hard ones and also V and A's. I made mine at about the 70-day mark or so, as I remember. Couldn't get the CRT breakfast, but did get the new character lunch.

jo-jo-
You should be fine making them all at once if you don't have any hard to get ones. Like Dt said, have a back up restaurant in mind for each just in case. It can't hurt right? I always try to wait for my PSes, but usually get to excited and make them day by day..lol

Re: questions on making ADR

I think the first week in October is going to be pretty busy due to the free dining offer. I have been reading reports that places like Le Cellier are really booked up for October, some people have reported not getting a good time or any time at all. I would call as soon as possible.
