Looking for Tips on last minute table

We made several PSs for our upcoming trip. We couldn't get into every restaurant we had our list. Does anyone know of any tips or tricks to increase my chances of a last minute table?

Wait until you are onsite and call from your hotel room. You can also just walk up to the podium and ask. Sometimes they have no shows and can accomodate you.

Try at the less popular dining times. If you are walking up, go early! If the first dinner is served at 4:00, go at 3:50. You may want to try a late lunch also.

Re: Looking for Tips on last minute table

We have had success a few times by just walking up because there are often no shows for ps's. I wish I could have been more help. Good Luck :)

Re: Looking for Tips on last minute table

There was a mention in the current allears newsletter of someone who said she tried and tried for a couple of popular PS's, only to be turned down every time. Including calling that very morning from her resort. But she found by walking up to the podium that they could accomodate her.

So, never fear...you can always try to get in as a walk-up!

Re: Looking for Tips on last minute table

Normally, the smaller the group, the easier it is to get a table... for our upcoming trip it is going to be just my wife and I, and yesterday I made PSs at Ohana's, California Grill, Brown Derby, Le Cellier, Chef Mickey's and we able to find seating at the times we wanted!

Re: Looking for Tips on last minute table

Sounds like the walk up will be the way to go. Thanks everyone you guys are the best. We have 5 of us this time and are really hoping to find a way into at least Le Cellier. Even if we have to split up 3 and 2 that would be okay. As Acarballo pointed out, it is probably easier to get seated in smaller parties.

Thanks again.

Re: Looking for Tips on last minute table

Mark,

Another option can be to request PS for either early or late time. For example, if you are doing lunch, request 11 a.m or 3 p.m. For breakfast, request 7 a.m. or 11 a.m. We have done the 7 a.m. at Chef Mickeys, it is early but then you'll be ready to hit the parks by 8:30 a.m.

By the way, Le Cellier is great! That's my wife's favorite restaurant in all of WDW and I like it a lot too. Excellent place for a relaxing lunch or dinner in a hot summer day.

Good luck,
Alfredo

This is exactly what I was going to say. I would also try calling a few more times. People cancel all the time and you may get lucky.

Re: Looking for Tips on last minute table

On our trip in May we had taken the afternoon off from the parks and spent it at the pool. Well when supper time rolled around we didn't want to eat at the food court at PC. I went to the conceirge (?) desk and told them how many in my party and what kind of food we wanted and he was able to get us a reservation for Whispering Canyon Cafe. This was at 8 pm. By the time we got over to the Wilderness Lodge it was time for our reservation. One of our best memories from that trip. I will give Disney an A+++ for that!!

Re: Looking for Tips on last minute table

You can also ask at the guest information inside the park for any openings for any restaurant (inside that park or not). For instance, we were at the Ak, going to the MK. I went to the desk inside AK and asked for reservations at the MK and I was able to get what I wanted. Also, ask often... we were at MK and at 6:00 I walked into guest services and asked them if there were any openings at any rest. inside the MK. My answer was, "yes there is an opening in the castle, but that is all there is..." I was standing there, with that star-struck look on my face I know...Of course I took the reservation (this was in October, but it was during Columbus day week when it was very crowded). Good Luck!!!
