MGM dinner plans

Okay, I really need your help again. I have been going back and forth about a place to eat dinner while doing MGM. I will have with me my DH, DD (4), mom and grandmother. Last time we were here we did the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose and really liked it, but I wanted to try something different. I have really narrowed it down to Sci-Fi (never been) and 50's Prime Time (went many years ago and loved it.) I think my grandmother would get a kick out of 50's PT, but I think my DH would like Sci-Fi. I am so confused and am totally open to opinions, thoughts and suggestions. And if someone could answer why I am the one that always gets to plan this stuff it would be appreciated!!!

We always get the fantasmic package at Hollywood & Vine. It is an all you can eat buffet with something for everyone and has a lot of yummy desserts. There are kid friendly items like mac & cheese and chicken nuggets as well as many varied adult entrees. We do it every trip.

Re: MGM dinner plans

I voted for PT because my DD loved it there. She really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. I've never been to SF so I can't comment on that.

Re: MGM dinner plans

I would have to give another vote to Hollywood & Vine. We liked it as a family and there are lots of different choices for different appetite opinions, and the price is good for all-you-can-eat. We just got back from Disney a few weeks ago and ate at Sci-Fi for the first time. The atmosphere is great, but the food isn't quite "drive-in" like you would hope. It is a little expensive for lunch, but maybe better for dinner...

I have to recommend Sci-Fi, since it is one of my familys favorites.
And you've never been there. Got to give it a try!!

Re: MGM dinner plans

My vote goes to 50 PT. Sci Fi is good but you have to sit in pairs in front of each other so the group can't really talk easily. 50s PT is both fun and good, plus you can visit with each other easily.

Steph, they do have tables in there where people can face each other, but I agree when it was just just DH, DD and me, we sat in a car, and DD and I sat together with DH behind us. It was a little weird !!!

Re: MGM dinner plans

I forgot about the tables. I think the cars are fun but just strange if you want to talk to the people in your group.

I went with other because I wanted to give Momma's a plug. Try them if you get the chance. My DD and I love that place.

Re: MGM dinner plans

I voted 50s prime time. While I love the atmosphere of Sci Fi, I like the food better at Prime time.

Re: MGM dinner plans

I voted for 50s Prime Time--the food was awesome there...mmm...pot roast... And the atmosphere was really fun too--we didn't get picked on since there was just the two of us and we were on our best behavior , but the large groups around us sure were fun to watch.

I went with other case we really love Hollywood and Vine. Everyone is happy as there is lots of different food to choose from! We also like Momma's but as we have only been for the dinner package i can't comment on the other menu!

Dana, I agree that Momma's is fantastic. We enjoyed it so much on our last trip. I was hoping to show my DGM something different, but Momma's is definitely in the running.

Opps. I forgot you tried that last trip. I lose track of who did what after awhile...lol I am going with the Fantasmic! package this trip and DD wants to do hollywood and vine much to my dismay. I much prefer Momma's, but it was her turn to pick...lol Maybe H&V will be booked
