Have you ordered a birthday cake at WDW?

I'm planning a trip in October for my DD's 12th birthday and I want it to be very special for her. I'm hoping to order a special birthday cake to have after her birthday dinner. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have pictures or know of links with pictures of birthday cakes you can order?
Thanks

Re: Have you ordered a birthday cake at WDW?

I'm attempting to upload a picture of the cake I ordered for my DW's birthday at Chef Mickey's but I'm having trouble with the upload page. I'll try again shortly.

However as I recall, you didn't have a choice of what it looked like, only what flavor it was.

Re: Have you ordered a birthday cake at WDW?

I ordered one at the Polynesian Bakery to be delivered to O'hana for my bosses BDay. It was $25. It sounded delish, it was white cake with strawberries in the center and cream cheese icing. I just called a few days ahead of time and the morning that I wanted it delivered, just to make sure!

Do you think that you might be able to get one at Fort Wilderness, if you are camping... and have it delivered to the campsite.... just wondering...

Re: Have you ordered a birthday cake at WDW?

Kizzmitt i just ordered a birthday cake for DD when we had dinner at 1900 Park Fare. I had to call 48 hours in advance and placed the order directly at 1900 PF. I spoke to the person working the podium. The cake was absolutely beautiful!!!! I'll try to get some pictures up of it. It cost $40.00 and it was a very large round cake, we had 14 people in our group and I sliced very generous portions and still took home about 1/4 of it. The bakery at the GF did a fantastic job. I recommend speaking with the consierge desk at your resort if you need assistance, they were able to get me the phone number I needed, just remember 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE.

Re: Have you ordered a birthday cake at WDW?

Sorry it took so long to reply. I haven't been able to look at all posts recently. Yes, they box it up for you if you don't finish it all. Very good flavor. I was very pleased with it.

Let me also suggest disneyflorist.com if you want more suggestions. I used this as well during the same birthday trip for DW in January. They have more than flowers and they also have Disney themed items too.

I bought a cake at Pop Century's food court. It was $12 I think. They had a few of them ready to purchase in the freezer section.

Kizzmitt, I don't know where you will be staying, but we stayed concierge at the Ploynesian for my daughter's 13th birthday and the concierge staff decorated the room with balloons, etc. and provided a free cake on the day of her birthday. She was so surprised when we returned to the room to find everything already "set up" for a birthday party! I don't know if WDW still offers Birthday Badges and special calls from each park. On my daughter's birthday we went to the visitors center at each park and they gave her a Birdhday Badge, then at some of the stores she was told she had a special phone call - it was from Mickey or another character.

Yes, they still have the birthday buttons and phone calls. Definitely do this! Lot's of interaction from the CM's while you are at the parks and if you eat at a sit down restaurant, she will get a cupcake with a candle.

Sorry to hop on this one late....but here's another picture for you. We celebrated DD's 7th birthday in June, at the Clambake. They went with a "beach theme" for hers.......The sand was brown sugar granules!!

Re: Have you ordered a birthday cake at WDW?

When I booked our room at the Poly 2 years ago, I let it "slip" that we would be celebrating DH's 40th bday during our trip. When we arrived in our room, the day of check in, there was a cake, balloons and a happy bday certificate with my husband's name on it. There was also a disney coloring booklet and crayons for our DD. The cake was good too and free!!!
