Has anyone heard more about this...ADR

I was looking at mouseplanet and read this concerning the new 10 day ADR rule:

"In addition, travel agency and wholesaler reservations are entered into the Disney travel system differently than those made directly by individuals. This means that if you booked your reservation through a travel agent, your agent must make the call to take advantage of the extra 10 days of reservations."

Does this mean you can't make the ADR's yourself ? Don't you think this will be so confusing? What if you tell your TA you like a 7:10 at Chef Mickey on Oct.8 and the only opening is 5:30 on Oct 2? Won't you need to have a million emails back and forth between you and your TA? Do you think this might be a little perk for people who book themselves so Disney doesn't have pay any commission to the TA's?

I may be completely wrong, but since they are going to verify that you've got a confirmed reservation before they give you the extra 10 day benefit then this is probably correct.

I know that when I book with Mickey @ Mouseketrips I can't go on the Disney website and look at my ressie - so it is separate in the system under his company name. I don't think they're doing it this way as a "perk" to people who book themselves, it's just the easiest way they can guarantee that the person making the ADR has a valid reservation.

I may be way off...but it makes sense to me!

I was concerned about this too. I called my travel agent and she gave me my reservation/confirmation # from disney & said I would have no problem booking my ADR's. I hope shes right. I would call just to check. Let me know what yours says.

Re: Has anyone heard more about this...ADR

HMM, not what I understood. I have had several clients take advantage of the early booking window, and had no problems at all. I could understand it if it was a wholesaler, since they don't sell the Disney packages. We at Mouseketrips, along with all the other Disney only TAs sell the direct from Disney packages, the same ones you can book by calling Disney. They have the same confirmations numbers and everything. The only difference is that it is noted on there that it was booked by at TA, and that the guest can't make changes, the TA must. I was under the impression that you just called and gave them the confirmaiton number, and they made sure you it existed, and you had the right dates, and they go from there.

I will check tomorrow morning for you all and let you know.

I'm a little more than month away before I could make any ADR's and the rules might change 8 times by then. I guess I'll have to check just before the 90 window opens up.

hijacking my own thread, I wish disney would think these programs thru and have the rules set before releasing them. It's hard to plan when what was true two weeks ago, is no longer valid.

Now back to your normally confused life.

I booked with Mousketrips and I just made all my ADRs last week with no problem. So don't worry you will be able to book ADRs.

Re: Has anyone heard more about this...ADR

OK, I spoke with two different CMs at Disney this morning. They both told me exactly the same thing. It doesn't matter how you got your reservation, as long as you are staying in one of the Disney resorts, you can do your own ADRs 90 days out and for your entire trip. This policy will not change, as the perk is for those staying on property, not those who book directly with Disney.

Re: Has anyone heard more about this...ADR

Mouse planet corrected their mistake this week.

"Yet further clarification of the "90+10" dining reservation window
Due to some miscommunication, last week we did not correctly pass along the process for making "90+10" dining reservations when you've booked your stay through a travel agency. We stated that, because travel agency reservations are entered into the Disney travel system differently than those made directly by individuals, if you had booked your reservation through a travel agent, your agent needed to make the call to take advantage of the extra 10 days of reservations. That is incorrect.

In fact, what was misunderstood is that your reservation number from the travel agency is not the number that would be in Disney's reservation system. You would need to get your Disney confirmation number from your travel agent, and then you can use that to make your own dining reservations. It is the travel agency reservation number that would not appear in the Disney system. We're sorry for that confusion.

Thanks to MousePlanet readers Rob Kucinski and Lisa Cantwell for bringing that error to our attention."
