Will DH like Boma?

Well, we upgraded to AKL! So now my question is whether or not to eat at Boma's. My DH as well as my kids are basic meat and potatoes types. I know they have kids entrees that they will eat. Is there enough plain stuff for my husband??

Re: Will DH like Boma?

I've been really afraid of eating at Boma as well, because DH and I are meat-and-potatoes people too. Everyone I've asked has said that there are plenty of options for "simple eaters"...so here's hoping! Guidebooks I've read said the same thing; there's "exotic" if you want, but even some of the "exotic" dishes are simple enough to please a picky eater.

It's not a first-hand account, but I hope that reassurance helps a little.

Re: Will DH like Boma?

Karlie -
I had the same questions when I took my DBF there in January. He loved it. Even our picky eater kids liked it. The breakfast there is awesome and the dinner is good too. I prefer the breakfast, but my DBF and the kids loved the dinner. They have some ethnic things to offer, but I found most of the food to be old favorites with some different spices and flavors...very good. You will not need a PS for the breakfast if you go there right in the morning as a walk up. The dinner, however, you will most definately need a PS for. It is very popular with all of WDW and gets really busy. The lobby at the AKL gets loaded with people at night waiting for Jiko and Boma. I am so glad that you are going to stay at the AKL. I can't wait to hear all about your trip when you guys get back.

Re: Will DH like Boma?

DH is a pickey red meat and potatos guy (no chicken or fish for him) and all he eats at Boma is the mac and cheese, fries, prime rib, steak and ribs. Boma cycles its main meats they have steak, ribs and pork on alternate nights. If I remember, Friday is steak and Saturday is ribs, sunday I think is pork. DH has gotten used to the spicy meats. I, on the other hand eat the chicken and fish. I would say try it, and you may be able to verify the meat rotation an eat there on a night that he would enjoy.

Re: Will DH like Boma?

I would say it depends. My family loves Boma and it's one of our favorite restaurants. Boma has excellent choices at their pods. I say go for it. Be sure to go on Wednesday or Saturday because that's when they have the barbecue ribs- this is a don't miss. And the Zebra Domes are wonderful. If you think Boma may not be what you are looking for, then try Jiko- I wouldn't say this is the best option for children, though.

Have fun!!!

Re: Will DH like Boma?

We have a PS for Boma in September. I keep seeing mentions of seeing the animals when you go to AKL to eat but no real details of doing so. Is there a set time or viewing area to go to for non-resort guests? And what is the talk about the CM's with night-vision goggles?? What's the scoop?

Re: Will DH like Boma?

You can't see the animals from the restaurant. But, you can walk out beyond the pool and see the savannah from several areas. There are CM's there to answer all your questions. There is also a lecture area inside and if you time it right can catch the lecture. They also have story telling outside around the firepit. We have always just happened upon all these extras, they were all nice surprises.

Re: Will DH like Boma?

I think your DH will like it. My DH really enjoyed it, as did both of my picky sons. My DH doesn't generally like going out of his "comfort zone" but he really did like Boma.
