Mama Melrose's for Fantasmic Package--reviews?
I thought it'd be fun to try Mama Melrose's with the Fantasmic Dinner Package this time around because we've never been there for a real meal (my dad and I were there for the Backstage Tour last year, but you don't get to order off a menu for that), but I'm hearing some "bad press" about the meal (including "not enough choices to choose from").
Any opinions, good or bad, would be appreciated. ![]()

It is a very limited menu. We did this last year and we enjoyed it but I would have liked more choice!

We did Mama's in May also, now that you mention it there really wasn't a huge selection on the menu.
It was good and all, and we are glad we went, but we are not dying to go back or anything.

Re: Mama Melrose's for Fantasmic Package--reviews?
I really enjoyed Mama Melrose. We did the Fantasmic Dinner Package when we went in December and our party had no problem picking 4 different things from the menu. I don't remember the menu being too restricted. I know that I was had to narrow down a choice, because I liked too many things on the menu.I ended up with Penne with Vodka Sauce that was very good. One thing is for sure....there is plenty of food. You all get salad and flatbread that you get to choose. Then you get your entree (huge portions) and dessert. I also had wine (probably had to pay for this as I don't think it would be included on the Fantasmic Menu). We had 4 people and a toddler and we all enjoyed it very much. The restaurant was nice and the staff was friendly and accomodating. My DD was asleep in her stroller when we first arrived and they got us a quiet out of the way table so she could continue sleeping.
The main reason I picked Mama Melrose was the idea I could sit down instead of having to do another buffet. Brown Derby didn't seem right with a 3 year old and Hollywood & Vine, while I'm sure is great was another buffet. I was not disappointed with my choice.

Bali,
I just checked out the Mama Melrose menu from Allearsnet and it was the same menu we got to pick from minus the appetizers. But like I said, we did get the salad and flatbread. Go on and check it out.

Re: Mama Melrose's for Fantasmic Package--reviews?
We did the Fantasmic Package at MM on our last trip and really enjoyed it. The salad was good and for our family of 4, we got 2 flat bread pizzas for appetizers. We each got something different and the desserts were pretty good. I really liked the cheesecake. Although we are trying H and V this trip for the Fantasmic Package (my sister wants to eat at H and V), we are still planning on going back to MM because we liked it so much.

Re: Mama Melrose's for Fantasmic Package--reviews?
We have been there twice for the package and while I did enjoy it both times, I liked it more the 1st time. I am considering trying something different if we do the package.

Keep in mind that it was 2 years ago when we went for this, but we enjoyed it very much. The salad & flatbread pizza was delicious...definitely not run-of-the-mill. I recall getting some kind of seafood & pasta dish, which was wonderful. The deserts were excellent, and when they found out it was my Mom's birthday, they brought her out an extra dessert! The waiter was very attentive, but not too stuffy for the kids. I would definitely do it again. Be sure to leave yourself enough time for the walk across the park for the fantasmic show.

Bali -
I recommend them every chance I get. I love their food and the service is excellent. DD and I have gone there the last two years and will probally go in there for lunch or something this trip. Definately try it, but skip lunch that day. The portions and amount of food that you get with that package is SO much.

Re: Mama Melrose's for Fantasmic Package--reviews?
Thanks all -- I think we're going to keep the PS for the time being. I've always wanted to eat there "for real" and this gives us a good opportunity to do so. When all else fails, there's always the chicken parm!

Re: Mama Melrose's for Fantasmic Package--reviews?
Oh--another quick question--is there a selection of desserts to choose from or do we have to get the tiramisu?
