Icon5 I need one more ADR, and I need some help!

We will be traveling the last couple of days of September, and will be on the free dining plan. I have three ADRs made (Le Cellier, Spoodles and Alfredo di Roma), but I don't have one for our first night. We will not have park passes for that day, since we won't arrive to CB until around 6:00 PM. Our initial thought was to hit DTD and eat at Cap'n Jack's, but you can't make an ADR there. We really are open to anything, but we will be relying on Disney transportation, so it can't be hard to get to.

Give me your suggesitons, and argue your point why we should eat there.

Oh, and of course it has to be on the dining plan. Thanks!

Chef Mickey's. I can't think of a better way to kick off a WDW trip then that character meal. You won't be hitting the park, but you sure will be in the WDW mood after that meal.

Flying Fish Cafe? You have always spoken so highly of it we decided to try it this summer and it was awesome. The service was the best we experienced our whole trip and the food was excellent.

If you want to spend some time at Downtown Disney your first night Earl of Sandwich is so good.

I agree with DisneyTeacher, I also say the Flying Fish Cafe. Some of the best food and service in WDW, IMHO. Then go next door and grab an ice cream for dessert and take a stroll on the Boardwalk.

I was going to suggest Chef Mickey's. It's the easiest restaurant I can think to get to, and a buffet is a really excellent thing to hit after you've been traveling all day!

I know Kona Cafe at the Poly isn't the most popular restaurant, but I think it's pretty good, and you can stay to watch Wishes on the beach after dinner.

I'm with Cavey, I like Kona Cafe too! In fact I just made and ADR there myself for 9/28! The food is good, desserts are delicious and the pressed pot Kona coffee is great too and I don't usually even like coffee!

Re: I need one more ADR, and I need some help!

You know, I have been to Kona Cafe a bunch of times, but never for anything but breakfast. I love Flying Fish, just a great restaurant, but it counts as two meals on the dining plan, so it is out. Fulton's is not on the list, but I love that as well. I think Chef Mickey's is out, if the kid were with us, it would be tops on the list.

OK, so Kona and Boma are on the list. Anyone ever eat at Shutters at CB?

I'm going to preface this by saying I've never been there, but how about Boatwright's. my parents went there on our trip in July and loved it. After dinner take a boat ride over to DTD.

Re: I need one more ADR, and I need some help!

Yes, Mickey. My partner and I ate at Shutters last May and for the same reason. It was our first night and it was the resort we were staying at. The food is very good, though pricey for what you get. I had the grilled tuna and it was delicious! Seasoned well with just a kiss of Wasabi (not enough to be obnoxious, just to give a hint of taste).

The atmosphere is wonderful, the right blending of tropical colors in the decor and perfectly lit. If you're looking for a romantic spot for dinner, you could do a lot worse. If you're lucky enough to get a window table, there's also a good view of the sunset over the water too.

In fairness, I must say that my partner did not entirely share my enthusiasm for Shutters. He felt that the food was VERY overpriced for the quality. Perhaps he just ordered the wrong entree. But, I really enjoyed it. Just my two cents.
