Honey I Shrunk the Menu

Am I the only one who thinks that Disney World menus have shrunk over the past few years? It seems to me that the selections have really been trimmed beginning a few years ago. For example, I recently ate at Spoodles which has always been one of my favorite places to eat - I love Mediterranean food - olive oil, garlic, ... They used to have an amazing selection of Tapas that were great to share along with a variety of flatbreads and entrees. On my recent visit though, the entire menu consisted of 6 Tapas (only one type of salad among those) and 6 entree items. The entire menu - 12 items! This is just one example though. It seems common now for an entire WDW menu to be printed on one side of one sheet of paper. Disappointing for someone who like a wide selection.

Re: Honey I Shrunk the Menu

oooh...but at least four of the six items are to die for! Our party of four ordered different things (along with a flatbread and garlic shrimp appetizers) and LOVED it...It was my first trip so I had nothing to compare the menu to, but the quality and service there was awesome.

I don't mind them trimming selections, as long as quality stays up there. There are SO many places to eat at WDW...

Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing, Allyson. I'm not sure if the menus have decreased, but there are SO many choices, that it doesn't matter.

YOu can get ANYthing at Disney!

Re: Honey I Shrunk the Menu

I love Spoodles. Last visit, we just ordered the Tapas off the appetizer menu. We had hoped to try more of the menu under the new dining plan, but as long as the quality remains, I can accept the smaller menu.

Re: Honey I Shrunk the Menu

We had a similar situation at Alfredo's in EPCOT. We remembered more of a selection in past trips and were looking so forward to dinner. When we looked over the menu, nothing but disappointment as they did not have what we wanted. We wound up settling for other choices. That was 2 years ago and haven't gone back to Alfredo's since.

Re: Honey I Shrunk the Menu

Perhaps they are just limiting the menu items to dishes that actually sell. you know, foodstuffs that do not sell, just sitting around in the fridge, and having to eventually be tossed in the dempsey dumpster?

I was at Alfredo's in July for lunch and Iagree the menu was a little limited. I thought it was just because it was the lunch menu. They did have a massive and expensive wine list though!!

Re: Honey I Shrunk the Menu

I wish the table service restaurants would offer a choice for those of us who are extremely picky. Others that I travel with might like to try some restaurants, but I look at the menu and don't see anything that I will eat (especially at those prices!). It would be nice to be able to eat in the restaurants and have the option...they offer things on the kids menus that I would eat, but I don't think they would let me order from the kids menu...will they make it in an adult portion for a price?

I'd definitely ask...the price may be more, but I see no reason why they wouldn't do this!

Adults are allowed to order from the kids menu. I haven't tried it but I have read they will double the size and charge you twice if you ask.

Ditto, hiner. We had the same experience with Alfredo's. It used to be on our list every trip, but eventually it just stopped hitting the mark.

I'm the same way. We ate at San Angel Inn in May and I was able to order chicken strips from the kids menu, and a side of the poblano mashed potatoes--no problem! You might get a few strange looks, but there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to share different experiences with your travel partners. Just be sure to check out the kids' menus before you go to the restaurants--I know that Marrkesh's kids' menu is still a little too ethnic for my taste... . If that happens, I'd call ahead and see if they can't prepare something you'd enjoy.

Re: Honey I Shrunk the Menu

On the same subject (sort of), when we visited WDW in May, we were kind of disappointed in O'Hana. Usually, it's the dining highlight of our trips, but we thought the quality of the food wasn't as good as on previous visits and the service was so-so. The whole atmosphere was a little down from our other trips. It may have been just an isolated incident. I hope so...

Anyone else think O'Hana has declined a little?

We went to O'Hana's for the first time this past May and the service was not very good. It was our nineth anniversary and the CM forgot about it and asked us after we got our bill if we wanted them to sing to us. I also did not think the food quality was all that good.
