dining plan question
Ok, this is probably a stupid question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. We are booked for 10/4-10/9 without the dining plan. We're staying at AS Music. Can I add the plan when we check in or before? How much is the plan...$38 per adult per day? We're definantly doing this trip on a budget and not planning on any character meals or fancy eating...grab and go for the most part. For breakfast we're taking Pop Tarts and taking raisins and such for snacks. Any opinions on whether or not we should do the plan? Thanks!

Re: dining plan question
The plan would run you $38 per adult. If you enjoy sit down dinners, the plan is a great deal. If you'd prefer counter service skip it.
Also, you have to add the plan to your package in advance. I'm not sure of the cut off, but I know firsthand you cannot add the plan the same day as your arrival. (The dining plan started on the first day of our trip, and I was calling reservations even as we were driving to WDW.)

Re: dining plan question
Never a stupid question......
I think the dining plan is only a good deal if you are going to eat one sit down meal a day. We thought about the dining plan but decided on the Disney Dining Experience card (you have to have an AP or live in FL to get it) to save 20% on most meals. I love to eat but the dining plan includes more food than I could eat. If you decide on the MYW dining package add it before you go so you know you have everything set before you get there.

Re: dining plan question
I agree with DisneyTeacher. From the looks of your original post, it seems as though you just want to wing it, and NOT do any big expensive meals. If that's the case, I wouldn't get the meal plan. You can dine for much cheaper than $80 a day for two of you if you just do counter service, pop tarts for breakfast and small snacks that you will bring in with you.

Re: dining plan question
Gosh, y'all are fast! Thank you so much for the quick answers! I think we'll just stick with winging it. My in-laws are also going, so decisions are never easy when it comes to eating! I just had second thoughts after reading about the dining plan, so I wanted someone else's opinion! Thanks again!

Re: dining plan question
One other suggestion. If you don't do the dining plan, and you decide you'd like a sit-down dinner. The lunch menu provides much the same experience at a cheaper price.

Re: dining plan question
If you add the dining plan it will cost you more than you would spend if you are budgeting the trip. You can also order childrens meals for adults at some of the fast food places and it is alot cheaper too.... Not sure how much you eat at one meal, but the childrens meal usually fills me up. I know that if you get an adult hot dog.... it is around 5 dollars and that is all you get... if you get the childs hot dog it is around 3 something and you usually get fries and a small drink.... We have an annual pass and we do budget trips alot... but there are lots of things you can do for budget dining... I know that I like to sit down at lunch time(late lunch) you get the same scenery and usully the same food for less.... just my thoughts... sorry to ramble..

YOU ABSOLUTLY CAN NOT ADD DINING PLAN AT CHECK IN!!!! It must be added to your package 5 days before your arrival date.

Re: dining plan question
We love to have very late lunches too. It's usually easier to get your ps/adrs this way too.
