I had heard they were pretty relaxed about snacks, but when we were there, everything at all the stores were marked with the little DDP logo. One time I grabbed the wrong water, and the check out person caught it pretty quickly.

From what I could see, they were pretty strict. It was nice to see all the Food and Wine booths offer their food options as snacks. We used up our final three snacks that way the last day.

You can get the snacks at any cart in the parks, counter service if you want a soft drink in a cup, Food and Wine booths or resort food areas. There are also places at the water parks, etc. Once you are there, it is pretty easy to figure out. Just ask if you don't know. We never did try to buy fruit with the snacks, we just paid for them. We bought some grapes in AK, and I don't remember seeing anything marked there, but I wasn't really paying attention.

The DDP plan sounds great, I think we will use it on our trip whether or not they offer a discount. How do you keep track of your "options"? Do you have to track what you've used up yourself or can a CM look it up for you??

We kept track of everything, but on a longer trip with more people, it might be difficult. Everytime you have a meal or snack, you get a receipt back telling you how many of that item you have left. When you check in, they put everyone's credits into a pile, and any room key you use to pay for it will deduct from the same pile. It was pretty easy to keep track, and I am sure at the front desk, they can look it up for you.

I am going to stop eating right now until I get to WDW on Oct 21!!! This way i will lose 20 lbs and then eat as much as I can and gain it all back without feeling guilty.

That dining plan is amazing. I don't think I'd go without it again, even though next time I'll have to pay for it.
I swear, they had to roll us out of ther estaurant each night, there was so much food!

That may be the way to go for me! A few years back (pre-baby) my then-boyfriend and I went to Disney, and totally ate our way through, gaining about 10 pounds in the process. This time we have the meal plan already booked, (minus the baby, but she barely eats, anyway!) and I really appreciate the "guide" you have for us here. It really makes me less apprehensive about things, as well as excited!

The meal plan sounds like it was REALLY worth it! Well, it was FREE, of course it was worth it! But I mean, it sounds like even if you paid for it, you'd be saving lots of money!!!

Too bad I don't stay on-site... . BTW, do they offer the plan if you're staying at Swan or Dolphin??

Sounds kinda similar to the Gold/Platinum Plan they used to offer. We ate ourselves silly when we used it! Normally I wouldn't order an appetizer and dessert w/ the main menu (on my dime), but we did with the plan - and the CMs loved it because tip was included and based on what the bill would've been! A few even helped us order things not on the menu!!

Our concierge actually kept checking in on us to tell us to eat more because we weren't using all our "points"! With the Gold/Platinum plan they had some things on the hotel's menu (we stayed at the BW) that we ordered the last day and took home with us - huge white chocolate Mickeys, a fruit basket, a cheese tray w/ a cool cutting board (we had them NOT include the cheese). I even had mine shipped home directly from the hotel to save space in the luggage.

I wish DLR had something similar!
