Icon11 Silly question about kids at restaurants...

I konw this is Disney, and they are better prepared for kids than any other restaurant in the free world, but do they have little silverware? My daughter is 2 1/2 and has a set of Princess silverware (tiny fork and spoon) that she loves - to the point of using them exclusively. Should I bring them, or would that be completely ridiculous?

Re: Silly question about kids at restaurants...

Well, they don't have kid size silverware at WDW restaraunts.

Bringing your own silverware seems a little unnecessary--especially carrying it around all day at the parks.

What does you daughter use when you go out to eat?

When my little guy was little (under 2), I would bring his own silverware. Ours came in a little case, that I kept in the diaper bag at all times. If she is attached to it, I say BRING IT! Why not?

Re: Silly question about kids at restaurants...

If that's all that she wants to use - take it. Worst case is that it might turn into a crying fit scene trying to get her to eat with 'regular' silverware. It won't hurt to be prepared if she's in a mood that day.

Re: Silly question about kids at restaurants...

Thanks, Kim and Victoria. I'm going to bring it. They're not that big - it will take up hardly any space under the stroller, and it couldn't hurt! I know it's unusual, (like anything having to do with a two-year old is "the usual!") but it's more then one evening out, and we just can't do chicken fingers every meal!

Glad to help! And you're right! Whatever will help make a meal at Disney World a good one with a 2 year old is worth it!!!! So you carry around a spoon, knife, fork with you...big deal! If she's attached to it and she has it with her, it's one less thing for her to have a meltdown about!

Bring it! If it makes her happy! I would do something similar for Caisley, if she was attached...

Re: Silly question about kids at restaurants...

Yes, bring it. I did that myself when Karlie was a toddler. Not because she was attached to it, just because big silverware was too big. we kept it in a ziplock bag in our backpack.

Re: Silly question about kids at restaurants...

I'd say bring it, but can it be replaced? Just in case it gets left behind someplace. Some times in the rush of things we overlook things. This isn't the same thing, but when my kids were little I would bring "bendy" straws. We would get a glass of milk with a straw and the kids couldn't tip the glass to drink from the straw unless I drank some first. Of course that was 20 yrs ago, I have no idea what they give kids or what kind of straws they have now.

Some restaurants at Disney have Mickey straws!!! As far as silverware goes, we used to bring my oldest's silverware with us wherever we went. It was just easier for him to use. It came with a little case, and it worked great.

Oh man, I've done a lot more than bring special silverware with me. Anything that keeps the kid happy so the whole family can enjoy the meal is more than worth the effort.

Bring it, why not. It sounds like they can fit in your purse no problem. I would.

You could also bring those palmolive dishcloth things to wash the silerware. They have the soap in them and you just throw away after your done with them.
