change at coral reef

Just got back about 8 hours ago & maybe this is old news, but we ate at Coral Reef last Thursday, only because we had the free dining plan. I ordered the lobster, & was told by our server that we're lucky we are there when we are. She said that beginning yesterday they were taking lobster off of the menu!! She said they were losing $ with the dining plan, especially the free one!!
Anyone going soon to confirm this?
Also, at POP Century, a breakfast "desert" for those on the dining plan is a danish or turnover, but not a muffin!
So now ya know!!

Never ate at CR -- seemed too much like the restaurants at the Atlantis resort in Bahamas, so we saved our meals to try new things -- is it good?

Re: change at coral reef

None of that makes sense. A high end seafood restaurant that doesn't serve lobster? We've done the dining plans for years (this is the first time we won't), and have been told that certain items wouldn't be allowed on plan, or would be an up charge. The best example of this was at Yachtsman's Steakhouse, where the menu suggests adding steaks or lobsters to your dish. We were told if we wanted to do that, it would be extra, or it was just out of the question. But what we were told time and again by waiter after waiter, as they brought coffee and cappucino and extra deserts and second entrees to replace what my wife didn't like at first, Don't worry, we bill the entire thing back to Disney Dining and get credit for the whole bill. We heard this all around "the World", without exception. So they're cancelling lobster at the Coral Reef because they're loosing money? Next you're going to tell me they won't have stone crab claws once they get in season next week.

Re: change at coral reef

wow....no lobster. I can't believe they told you that let alone are pulling it off the menu. What did they think was going to happen when they started this free dining thing? duh.
