Free dining plan was not the same as one we paid for!

Disney resturants changed their menus for the 3 weeks during the free dining plan! I was talking with a CM at Tonys and she told me about the changes. So don't worry if your favorites were not on the menu, they will probably return! If you enjoyed the free plan, you will really love the "regular" plan with more (and often better) choices on the menu! Counter service did not seem to be affected. Tonys was good by the way, better than alfredos which bordered on uneatable!

Re: Free dining plan was not the same as one we paid for!

So weird. I didn't seem to notice much difference at the table service restaurants we ate at in August and we got the "free dining plan offer" too. We did eat at Alfredos one of the nights, and even though we don't eat there often, I thought it was great! What did you have there? Where else did you eat?
Ours were Alfredo's, Liberty Tree Tavern, Teppanyaki (sp?) in Japan, Biergarten, Hollywood & Vine, Boma, and Le Cellier.

Re: Free dining plan was not the same as one we paid for!

The CM told me they changed the menus for 3 weeks and we were there on 10/03. I think she was referring to mid sept to the week of the 3rd. Not everything was changed, some items were still the same, but some items were left off the menus. There were still plenty of choices and at Tonys it made it more affordable for people not on the plan because they combined the lunch and dinner menu. Rose and crown had steak and fish instead of steak and prawns and the alfredo's trio was changed. Everything I wanted was still on the menu, I'm not complaining, the deal was great, I just thought I'd let those of you know about the changes, and that they might not be permanent.

We ate at TTS, Cal Grill, (nothing changed there), 1900 PF, 50's PT, Concourse Steakhouse, Alfredo's, LLT, MM, PSB, and CRT for both breakfast and dinner. The kids went to Ohanna but I didn't get to go because I was sick. They enjoyed it very much.

I still don't understand how they aren't losing money on the whole dining plan thing, but hey, I'm not complaining. I already bought it with our next trip package!! Glad to hear you enjoyed Toni's though, not many people say they love it and it's one of my favorites!

DD24 was really looking forward to Alfredo's and ordered the lasanga which just didn't compare to my homemade! I guess I spoiled her! DD12 had the fettichini alfredo and liked it. I had the shrimp with spaggetti like pasta and it was not good. The shrimp were small and mushy. I don't think they were fresh, I should have sent it back! When we checked in the hostess made remarks that we were celebrating DD12's birthday and underlined it in green but our waiter did nothing to acknowledge her birthday! She watched other people getting serenaded with "happy birthday" and I was sure they would eventually get to her but never did! She was a bit dissapointed. I quess it's hit or miss here!

I would have pulled the waitor aside and mentioned it again. I am so sorry they didn't sing to your DD...especially if they were doing it for others. How disappointing. I have never really had the desire to eat there because of the mixed reviews I hae read. Tony's, on the other hand, is a place I have been wanting to try, but haven't worked it into plans yet. Maybe we will sneak in there for a lunch on our last day. Sorry to hear you were sick for O'hanna...how did your family like the new menu?

Re: Free dining plan was not the same as one we paid for!

Dana, I didn't question the waiter because I just assumed she would be next! By the time it was apparent she would not be sung to or receive the special birthday dessert, it was getting late and we needed to leave so we could see Illuminations. I mentioned that we were dissapointed as we left and a manager invited us to come back after the show and have dessert but it was late and we were tired so we just went back to the hotel! The strangest part was that the hostess highlighted the birthday note in green crayon and underlined it! I really thought that the waiter knew and just was saving anything special for last!

The kids loved Ohanna! This is the second time I missed Ohanna, in May DGD 2 1/2 had a 104 fever and we missed it! They did not try the bread pudding though, they had ice cream!

Sounds like it was a bad waiter...so sorry for your DD. Glad the kids liked the new O'hanna menu. I wasn't going to try it again, beacause I thought they dropped the wonton. I just read that they have the wontons. They are my DD favorte part of the meal. She isn't a huge meat eater and usually fills herself on the chicken wings and wonton. She would like the sausage though. I haven't ever had bread pudding, so I can't say I don't like it. I don't eat pineapple at all, so it would be nice to have an included dessert option with that meal. Never know until you try something right? Hope the rest of your trip was flawless.

Re: Free dining plan was not the same as one we paid for!

The question is did they change 'Ohanas menu just during the "free dining" period and will be going back to the old menu or will stay that way?

Re: Free dining plan was not the same as one we paid for!

We did the dining plan between 9/27 and 10/1. We ate at Le Cellier, Spoodles, 50's Prime Time and Alfredos, and all four had exactly the same menu that All Ears had listed for several months. Alfredo had changed some of the entrees a bit, but all the offerings were there. I though Alfredo's was fantastic, much better than I was expecting. I am sorry you didn't enjoy it.

Disney restaurants routinely change their menus. I am sure they are trying to find what works and what doesn't. When Spoodles opened, they had like 15 tapas on the menu, and few entrees. The restaurant was designed so you ordered a couple of tapas per person and shared. Now the menu is just like any other restuarant, with appetizers, entrees, etc.

Re: Free dining plan was not the same as one we paid for!

My family of four enjoyed the free dining plan that was offered the last week of last month and I didn't see any changes in the menus that we were offered. In fact the waiters encouraged us to get the most expensive things on the menu.

Re: Free dining plan was not the same as one we paid for!

Alfredos was our least favorite of all the restaurants we ate at last trip as well. The pasta was mushy to me and my huband had marinara sauce that was just way too sweet to us. The appetizers and dessert was wonderful :)

Re: Free dining plan was not the same as one we paid for!

The reason the waiters encouraged people to order the more expensive items on the menu was they got a 15 percent tip on the bill,so our waiter at Le Cellier got a more than 15 dollar tip from my mother and my's dining plan.

Guys, please remember I was just passing on something a CM told me! The plan is great, I'm not complaining! Just wanted to point out that if something you liked was not on the menu, it may reappear!
