Icon5 dining reservations

We will be at WDW in December with the dining plan and my 2 year old granddaughter is it absolutely necessary to make advance reservations to dine at certain resturaunts before our arrival?

Re: dining reservations

If there are restaurants that you really want to eat at you shoud make ARDs for those places. The dining plan is really filling the restaurants up. I don't like to waste park time waiting for a table or walking around looking for a place we can get in to eat.

It's not vital for you to make reservations before you get there. Unless you know NOW you want to do one of the more popular dinners (like Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue), you can take care of it when you get there. Each WDW resort should be able to assist you Priority Seating reservations for any of the park restaurants. Also, there are customer service areas that cast members will make PS for you for that day or any future day on your trip, as well as a free phone number to call from you WDW room. We found this very flexible on our last trip. My wife called and got PS to a few of the most popular ones we wanted to commit to, but the rest we made w/ our hotel during our trip as plans changed. Realize other than the shows, PS is just a time you will get seating priority, you may still have to wait 15-20 minutes from that time to get seated and start your meal. my daughter was 23 months when we went, and our personal favorites were the Pooh dining in the Magic Kingdom and Chef Mickeys in the Contemporary Resort. We did the meal plan, and loved that the Character Dinings counted as a Table Service meal--made it very convenient and saved us some $$$! If you have any other questions about dining at Disney, let me know and I'd be happy pass some more lessons we learned.

Prezcatz, welcome to DC.

Please take this in the nicest possible way... your font size is really difficult to read. It'll be a lot easier to interact with you if I can read what you've written!

Re: dining reservations

Having the ADR's makes life so much easier. Especially with a 2 yr old. I don't know about your granddaughter, but my DD was 20 months and she is not very interested in waiting for anything...particularly bkfst/lunch/dinner. I recommend making your ADR's for the character meals, as I know the wait time without the ADR when we were there in September could be obnoxious (I heard the wait time was over 2 hrs at Liberty Tree Tavern) and that was during the slow season!

Re: dining reservations

When in December are you going? We are going on the 16th and have all our ADR's made, we couldn't get some of the times that we wanted and that was at 90 days out! I would try and plan where and when you wanted to eat and see what you can book!

Re: dining reservations

I think when you have a little one with you, you are better off to have some reservations ahead of time. You never know what wait times will be like, especially if you leave it to chance. Once we're there, if we can't make it, we cancel them. But we feel better having them lined up before we get there. I know people have had luck with calling the day of, and just walking up, but we never seem to.
