DVC and Dining Plans

Hi,

Can DVC members take advantage of one of the dining plans. I am talking about the type you would pay for not the latest free special. Can they simply purchase the plan?

Thanks!

Nope, alas, we are not eligible. But if you have an AP you are eligible for the Disney Dining Experience card, which saves you 20% off of all 3 meals, and alcohol.

Re: DVC and Dining Plans

Rumor has it that starting in 2006, DVC members using points to stay at a DVC resort will be able to add the dining plan onto their reservation. Nothing official has been announced yet, but I still have my fingers crossed.

That would be great.
I assume a renter of points would be able to add the plan also?

Where will you post when/if this becomes offical?

That would be a nice option. I have never bothered to figure out if that was advantageous or not since it was never an option. Also, we very often eat on the run so I always figured it wouldn't really work for us. However, if it was an option, I would have to investigate further.

Re: DVC and Dining Plans

I got the Dining plan for this year, it was $50 and there are 5 of us, so $10/each isn't bad and we will use it. I would love to really use it alot and try some places but the rest of the family always cringes at the prices of some of the places, but as of now we will use it at Chef Mickey's, ESPN Club, 50's Prime Time, Planet Hollywood, and I am trying to get one more squeezed in there, maybe Sci Fi, I know my Dad wants to hot an All Star Resort for dinner one night too. I want to try Fulton's but it is not a part of the DDE deal, I can us our AP and save 10% tho

But as far as the Dingin plan you can add to your package, I would def look into it if it was available for DVC members

Re: DVC and Dining Plans

I have 36 days until I can make my reservations (sort of like a countdown within my countdown). I'm hoping they allow this option soon.

Bumping this to see if there is any news on this. I'm close to becoming a DVC member and I'm hoping this'll help me take the plunge. Wish knows what I'm talking about

Re: DVC and Dining Plans

I also have to say, this is a major downer for my decision to join DVC or not. DH and I loved the dining plan, and it would really deter me from buying into DVC if I couldn't get the dining plan...I'll have to call and talk to my rep.

Re: DVC and Dining Plans

I'm with you all crossing fingers. I would love to be able to add the dining plan for my October stay. It would make paying for 6 to eat SO much easier.

Taking notes to add to "What it takes to talk husband into buying DVC"!
That's really great news.

Re: DVC and Dining Plans

Well, I spoke with my rep today and he told me that they really can't say anything to us, but he said "have you ever heard the term 'coming soon to a theater near you'?" And I told him I heard the rumor that DVC members would be able to buy into the dining plan starting next year, and he said "sounds like you've got some good sources" so I take that to mean it is definately upcoming...
