50th wedding anniversary

We need help - we are going to Disney for our parents 50th wedding anniverary. 6 Adults and 2 kids (4/9). Staying at Saragota Springs and meeting relatives. We want to do a magical disney dinner for relatives who live in Florida and our family. Any ideas - California Grill private rooms booked. Would like to end with fireworks - event is in early February before the crowds? Event is first night of our trip we're staying a week. Will have 14 adults and 6 kids for dinner. Ideas needed. Last time at Disney was in the 70s!! THANKS

Re: 50th wedding anniversary

Are you set up as a Magical Gathering??

I know there are several special dinner events that can be planned for large groups such as yours. Check out:

and

The second link gives some of the dinner options...give CRO a call and ask what other options they have! Sounds fun!!

Oh...and Welcome to DC!!

Re: 50th wedding anniversary

Thanks for the tips. We have spoken to Catering and Planning and so far this has not been a magical experience. We spoke to Dinning and they said we had to book with catering group for a private room. They were to email the menu for an epcot dinner with private desert and fireworks but did not do this on Friday. We spent all week on this. You leave a message they are to call back in 48 hours, no call, we called again. We got someone to find out the California Grill was booked, it seemed like we had to offer the suggestions and then the menus were to be emailed Friday as the tenative reservations expire Monday. No one was around over the weekend. The dining reservations helped us book our other events but they can't do magical gatherings and yes we are booked as a Magical gathering group. I am looking for ideas of other dining restaurants or if anyone has done a dinner cruise on the lakes. What about just booking a room at Saratogo springs and having someone cater a meal? The size of our group make some of the events hard and the fact that we just arrive that day so the kids will want parks and we know our next morning will be early. Thanks again.

Re: 50th wedding anniversary

I wish I could help you, but all I can see is just keep calling! Hopefully Allyson's suggestions will be of some use to you.

In any case, what a wonderful trip! You're definitely giving me ideas, but I think I've got about 10 years before I have to worry about my parents' 50th.

Re: 50th wedding anniversary

Just because I always like to know what people decide, I thought I'd report that we are going with the Fairy Godmother at Cinderella's Castle for a dinner celebration. WWW dine was outstanding in securing the reservations. Please note we did have to confirm with a credit card but this was better than the catering group. My conclusion is that the catering group is use to corporate events not families and our size didn't quite fit. We are counting down the days to Disney... Good things we have holidays to celebrate it will make the time appear to go faster and we are glad our parents chose a winter wedding, the spring or summer would be too far away! Of course any special ideas on what do the week we are there that is extra magical would be appreciated!

I think you need to register as a Magical Gathering (one of the new programs) and they will assign someone to help you plan your events.

Re: 50th wedding anniversary

Thanks - we are registered and paid for! We received our confirmation number, I find that if you ask the right questions you get answers if you don't ask not everyone volunteers options. We go in early February - so we still have time. We have booked Ohana's, 50's cafe, Fantasmic with dinner at Hollywood and Vine, Mae Cafe. We are at Saratoga Springs in an efficiency and 2 bedroom suite (we wanted privacy, bathrooms, and a kitchen) so we can do meals in or out. Thanks for the comments.
