Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

I think we decided to go with Crystal Palace for our last character meal instead of Princess Storybook -- my daughter actually lit up at the mention of seeing Pooh and "friends" (much to my suprise!). So..now I have to decide if we want to do breakfast, lunch or dinner..!! I know the characters are the same for all 3..my DH is more interested in the food than anything else..soooooooo...can someone let me know which meal has the BEST food???? I always rely on your opinions! Thanks in advance!!!

I've only had breakfast there and wasn't too impressed. Chef Mickey's was much better. Though having breakfast there means you can eat before the park officially opens and therefore not miss out on any ride time.

Re: Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

I loved the CP breakfast!! I actually thought it was way better then Chef Mickeys. Funny.

Anyway, I did not know they had a character meal except for breakfast.
Regardless I would choose breakfast. It was wonderful to get the early PS before the park opened and walk up mainstreet almost alone!

Re: Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

You know..I know I am in a minority here..but, we have only been to Chef Mickeys for breakfast once and I was definitely not impressed. The characters came around and spent an "adequate" time at the table but the food when we went was AWFUL. My husband said we would not be going back there again. My daughter wasnt even very impressed..so, Chef Mickeys was not an option this time. We already have PS's for CRT for breakfast and my hubby is honestly wanting to try something later in the day. I was just having a prob trying to find a character meal that my daughter would like that also had good food..! What to do..what to do...!

pjfnme, have you tried Liberty Tree Tavern? Dinner is a character meal with salad with a vinaigrette dressing, turkey, sliced beef, ham, accompanied with all the sides like mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, and macaroni and cheese. We tried it this summer for the first time and we were impressed. The characters were fun and the food was good.

Re: Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

We have only been to CP for breakfast, but we like it so much, we've done it several times now.

We like to make the last breakfast seating of the day so we can make it count as both breakfast and lunch. We also get longer times with the characters that way.

A few days ago we went with a large group and they had started to put the lunch out towards the end of our meal. Even though I was too full to try it myself, several people in my party were able to try some of the food from lunch. They all said it was very good.

If you go for breakfast: do try the breakfast lasagna. It's sinfully delicious, as is the puffed french toast! Yum!

We did the same thing. By taking the last breakfast reservation, we got the breakfast food but it really was our lunch for the day. By the time we were finishing, the restaurant had completely emptied out as they prepared to change over to lunch. I'm not sure how much of a time gap there is between breakfast and lunch reservations, but because we were just about the only ones left, my kids got a lot of attention from the characters by the time we were finished!

Re: Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

I'm another one famous for getting the last breakfast seating (usually around 11) and counting it as lunch. The breakfast buffet is less expensive than lunch, and my kids aren't ready to eat real early in the a.m. anyway. We have also done lunch and dinner at CP at various times. You can get an idea of the menus on allearsnet.com

Regardless of whether you do breakfast or lunch, always ask for the last seating of either meal so you get more attention from the characters.

Re: Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

We've been to CP for lunch a few times.
The food is good and the character interaction was lots of fun.

It works out great to get to the MK early, hit your attractions and have a nice lunch at CP before hopping to another park or heading out for a break.

Re: Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

My favorite meal at the Crystal Palace is the breakfast. Both the lunch and dinner are also great meals, but I prefer the breakfast over all three.

Re: Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

Okay, I will be in the minority here and vote for dinner. Don't get me wrong, I love breakfast, but thought the dinner was fantastic. Here is our review of Crystal Palace from the DS Rate and Review page:

"We enjoyed our dinner at the Crystal Palace in late May of 2005. This is a perfect space for a character experience -- large rooms, high ceilings, good light, and a fair amount of space between the tables makes it feel less chaotic than Chef Mickey's. The characters moved from table to table at a nice pace, taking good amount of time with the children at each table. We also saw a couple of the characters more than once. The food selections were diverse, with an international touch, and of good quality (although admittedly not as good as Cape May). At the end of the day, though, what made this a truly worthwhile experience was the caring and courteous staff. My husband had a chance to chat briefly with the manager while walking our sick child around. She was very pleasant and kind and clearly took pride in making Crystal Palace a good experience for children. We would recommend this particularly to families with young children and those who want a pleasant meal with prompt service at the Magic Kingdom."

Re: Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

We, too, love the breakfast so muxh, it is all we do. It is a 'must do' on every trip, and that comes from the mini-mice (ages 20/18/17/15/15). It's a great way to gear up for the park.

We weren't particularly impressed with breakfast either, but we LOVE Crystal Palace for lunch and dinner. On our last trip, we discovered that they had virtually the same menu for lunch as they did for dinner.

Re: Crystal Palace -- breakfast, lunch or dinner???

I would vote for dinner. I've never been dissapointed with the food or characters at dinner time and I guess, personally, a big breakfast like that would knock me out for the day anyway. I think the experience is best enjoyed for the evening.
