Eating with Kids in Epcot?
Hi! We're heading to Epcot with our kids (4 yrs & 3 yrs) in February. This is our first trip to Epcot with kids in tow. DH & I love all of the great restaraunts in the World Showcase but are afraid we'll have a hard time finding things the kids will eat on the menu. They stick pretty much to the hot dogs, mac & cheese, and peanut butter sandwich routine. Can anyone recommend good places to eat in World Showcase that have kids menus with these kinds of items? I also heard someplace that at most of the WDW restaraunts you could request simple things like pb&j sandwiches for the kids, even if it wasn't on the menu. Anyone know whether this is a true statement or not?

Hi and welcome to Disney Central!
A great website with epcot menus is www.wdwig.com. I also have picky eaters, and they do not like the mac and cheese at Disney. Yours might not be that picky, but it is different. How is the weather in Iceland?:laugh I know you will enjoy the weather in Florida for a nice change! |

peanutzmom,
My 2 year old ate at Akershus last year, and we have PS at Le Cellier and Chefs de France this year. I'm not worried... :) Mac and Cheese is on practically every menu, and there is always a kids menu with at least 3 offerings. I've heard about the PB&J too, but we've never had to try it. teresadisney...your kids don't like the mac and cheese at Disney, but they do like it outside of Disney? :weird: Now, THAT is picky! :D Bruce

WDW is the best place in the world to eat with kids. The nice restaurants still have great kids menus. Most places will still have mac and cheese and chicken nuggets, but it is also a great place for kids to branch out just a little. We have five children and have taken them to WDW at all ages. Here is a list of places that have worked well for us.
1. Marrakesh in Morocco lots of interesting things to eat but they also have a very simple chicken shish ka bob and a hamburger. The belly dancers make this place a lot of fun. Our kids have all been invited to participate and I think this is our all time favorite place to go in EPCOT with kids. 2. Teppanyaki in Japan the waiters make this a lot of fun for little kids. Our young kids were mesmerized by all of the food flying around. 3. Beirgarten in Germany Alot of interactive dancing and the buffet make this a great place to take little ones. Every restaurant will have a kids menu that you can ask to see. It helps that WDW always caters to kids. You should have no problem. Encourage your kids to branch out a little and you will have so much fun. My kids love the chicken bastilla at Restaurant Marrakesh it is one of there favorite things. |

:) Epcot is full of great places to eat with kids.
The Character Dinner at the Land is great and kids love the fact that the place sloooowly revolves. Le Cellier in Canada is wonderful and they have a GREAT Chocolate Mousse dessert that my kids loved (It's in the shape of Moose ehad and the antlers are cookies!) The Teppanyaki Dining rooms at Mitsukoshi are great for entertaining the kids. The chefs chop, prepare and cook right in front of you much like Benihanna's (If you are familier with them) OH yeah in teh American pavilion there is a resaurant with all the old standbys (Hamburgers and stuff) we haven't eaten there yet but it looked pretty good. If you haven't done it already pick a copy of Birnbaums Walt Disney World, it is a wealth of info from dining to sleeping to just hanging out. And the Passporter, www.passporter.com also has some wonderful tips as well as being a great companion for your trip and planning! Have a great time:)

You can always go to the Sunshine Season Food Fair (food court) in the Land pavillion and get PB&J kids meals to go and take it with you to the World Showcase. They have Smuckers Uncrustables individually wrapped sandwhiches served with chips & a beverage for $3.49 and are very convenient. Of course they probably sell those sandwhiches elsewhere in Epcot but I'm just not sure.

Well, if they are picky eaters(like me ;) ) I would suggest that you just get something in whichever "country" you want then taking it over and eating with your kids in "America", since they serve burgers and fries, hot dogs, apple pie... I am getting hungry just thinking about it! :D

I like the Electric Umbrella just past Innoventions East. They've got the standard park fare: burgers, chicken sandwiches, etc. They used to have talking garbage cans too, but I did not see them last visit.

The Garden Grill in Epcot's The Land is one of our favorites for home cooking. Cheapest character meal for lunch, too. (Like $13.00) They have Mickey, Pluto, Chip, and Dale. Maybe Minnie....don't remember for sure.
The restaurant actually revolves around every 30 minutes, and you can see parts of Living with the Land ride from the restaurant. Pretty cool!

I wasn't going to post...but I had a change of heart. I think that getting your kids to eat is a matter of personal preference. You know...like how long you want to wait, how long you want to sit, and what kind of atmosphere you are comfortable with.
Since I don't know you, and I don't know your kids (or what your budget looks like)...I will recommend one restaurant: Coral Reef in the Living Seas. The food is average. The prices are high. But The view is outstanding. The lobster bisque is excellent and the salads are good and both are fairly inexpensive. Since chicken fingers and french fries are a rule at Disney restaurants...this will be a winner. If you have 45 minutes to spend inside a fish tank, you will love this spot. Look for my trip report in a few weeks...this is one spot that we will not miss!

:p my children and I were at Epcot yesterday and had our main meal at the Garden Grille in the Land pavillion. It was a character lunch and my son (10) is an extremely picky eater. He had all you can eat chicken fingers, daughter (11) had the same but ate the mac and cheese as well. The food for the adults was good and the pumkin cheese cake was wonderful!
My children as at the age where they think they are too cool for the characters and yet my son and Dale got into a hotly contested game of tic tac to. All in all it was a great time and we had a decent meal at a more reasobable price. :) jeanne

DH is a recently-seperated Marine. He was telling me that he stopped over in Iceland on his way home from a Scotland det. a few years ago. That must be where you are!
One thing that we miss, is seeing the world...going places that you would normally never go. You must be a very strong person...it is hard being a military wife.
