Dining Plan Expiration Question

How come the majority of the threads I start have to do with food?!?! Anyway...

Doing some planning here for our May trip. I understand that the Dining Plan is tied to the number of nights you stay at your Disney resort, and not to your theme park tickets, and that any leftover credits you have on your dining plan will expire at midnight of the day you check out of your Disney resort. But...

What if you are checking into another resort? Does this credit go away upon check-in to the 2nd resort?

I ask because we are using two free nights at The Beach Club that our wedding planner gave to us back in 2003. We were told that since we had to reserve these rooms directly through the Yacht & Beach Club, they count as "room only" nights and we can't add the dining package. So since we can't add the plan, does this mean that they would take our credits away?

Please say no.

I bet the answer is yes, though :c(

they aren't part of the dining package...right? Are you paying for the dining plan on those two nights?

No, we were told that because we could only book the free nights directly with The Yacht & Beach Club that it would be considered a "room only" booking, and we could not add the dining package to those nights.

Re: Dining Plan Expiration Question

The dining plan is tied directly to your package. Once the package ends, so do the meal vouchers, meaning your room only books won't count for your dining plan.

sorry.

From what I have heard, I am sure the answer is YES. The dining plan is tied directly to your package. You could only get the meal plan by purchasing ate least a 1 day MYW ticket with your rack rate room ressie, or by staying on DVC points. You aren't doing either, so I would say your credits will expire the night you check out of your first hotel. SORRY!

BUT, we're checking into another hotel the same night.

I think I'm going to have to call Disney directly and find out once and for all. I've been reading on other boards that our meal credits will not expire, and then the travel agent we are dealing with, who specializes in Disney packages, says the same.

Thanks!!

I know you're checking into another hotel, but you aren't paying rack rate for the room since you're getting it for free...unless your TA is paying full price for it so you don't have to pay anything. If that's the case, you just might be able to keep your credits...I would call Disney directly to ask them! I hope it does work out for you in the end!
