First Trip Ever To Walt Disney World. Dining Suggestions Please.

Okay this is my first trip ever to Walt Disney World. I will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge from December 2 to 9 and will be on the Disney Dining Plan. My almost 5 yr old daughter and husband will be with me. Can someone recommend some great sit down restaurants for dinner that have a good kids menu(my child loves chicken, spaghetti w/meatballs, hamburgers, pizza, and fruit forget the veggies though(LOL)).
So far I am thinking Le Cellier, Whispering Canyon, Tonys(she loves Lady and the Tramp), Ohana, Teppanyaki, and I had thought of the Coral Reef Restaurant but for some reason I thought it was signature dining(if not that is one of my preferred choices since it has that great aquarium for her to look at).
So what do you suggest as far as the restaurants and also what are some of the delicious things to order(with dining plan I get appetizer, entree, and desert).
Also, is there a good place I could sample different hot teas(as I really enjoy fruity tasting teas)?

Re: First Trip Ever To Walt Disney World. Dining Suggestions Please.

You already have picked out some perrenial favorites. I would suggest checking out the menus at www.allearsnet.com for other restaurants, and also to get some ideas about the other restaurants.

We like the Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom (this is a character meal with Pooh and friends) and we also are very fond of the Garden Grill at Epcot, also a character meal with Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. There are tons of choices, I am sure other friendly folks will be piping up with their recommendations shortly!

I have found that almost every restaurant has a nice selection of typical kid favorites (like those that you mentioned). It looks like you've made some great choices, good luck!

Re: First Trip Ever To Walt Disney World. Dining Suggestions Please.

You'v got some great choices already!

I do believe that Coral Reef is now / or will soon be only 1 table credit.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

If you are looking for a few more places I'd suggest Chef Mickey's for breakfast or dinner, and Sc-Fi for a cool place to try.

I would definitely try a character meal such as Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace. I also would recommend a dinner show such as Hoop de Doo Review. That is 2 credits but it is dinner and a show and a whole lot of fun. The sci fi diner at MGM would be fun for your little one too.

Welcome to DC
WDW for the first time. I cannot wait to read your Trip Report on that one. You have to promise to write one!
Just like karliebug already pointed out, a character breakfast at Crystal Palace is a must for us.
And remember, this is first and foremost a kids world, every restaurant has something for the kids to eat.

You've already picked out some great restaurants. I think your kids would also enjoy either Sci Fi or 50 PrimeTime at MGM, both places have a great atmosphere and pretty good food. We also love Chef Mickey's, it's a great way to meet a few characters w/o waiting in line.

Our kids really liked Chef Mickey's. It is a buffet and a character meal. We thought is was fun and were able to get a lot of great pictures. It is at the Contemporary resort.

Re: First Trip Ever To Walt Disney World. Dining Suggestions Please.

Wow, you pretty much picked out all of my favorites!

What about trying something character and classic, like Crystal Palace or Liberty Tree (both in MK)? My personal favorite is Liberty Tree. Food is served "family style" and consists of yummy things like turkey, ham, apple butter and biscuits, mashed potatoes, veggies, etc. You get to see MANY characters there too!

Oh, good one Wish, I forgot about Liberty Tree Tavern! We tried it for the first time last summer and loved it.

Re: First Trip Ever To Walt Disney World. Dining Suggestions Please.

For your tea-drinking pleasure, try the United Kingdom pavilion!

As for restaurants for your little one, I would suggest:

MK -- Crystal Palace (Character breakfast featuring Pooh characters)
AK -- Breakfastosaurus (Character breakfast featuring Goofy and classic characters)
EC -- Biergarten (Great entertainment and theming)
MGM -- Mama Melrose's (Huge portions of kid-friendly food)

... oh, and what about the Princess Breakfast at Akershus in Norway? I hear it books up incredibly fast, so you'd have to call right away, but I bet you get to see all the princesses, which is so cool!!!

Re: First Trip Ever To Walt Disney World. Dining Suggestions Please.

I would suggest Ohana's. The "grown-up" food is EXCELLENT, and my son (almost 3) liked the kids menu. We had a lot of fun. The Ukulele guy was awesome. He sings some cool ukulele songs and they have some fun games like a coconut race pushing them on the floor with brooms... We had a lot of fun.

Oh...plus, did I mention how AWESOME the food was? YUMMY!!!

Since this is your first trip, you may not know of some of the cool extras for meals.

If you have dinner at the Rose & Crown in Epcot, you can get waterside viewing of Illuminations.
If you get the Fantasmic Dining Package at MGM, you'll eat in one of three restaurants offering the package, and then you'll get reserved seating for the show.
