Tidbit about Chef Mickey's
The Prime Rib Buffet was really good. There was a lady there, who was short and wore round spectacles and was carving the prime rib. As I was in line for a taste, she explained to a new guy that one may have to educate folks about prime rib and the offer of rare meat choices. I immediately understood her direction as she showed to large sections of prime rib in which most of the mass was rare-er. I being incredibly shy and fragile, jumped into the instruction by agreeing that slow roasted "rare" prime rib had a completely cooked state and its flavor did not have the taste or consistancy of under-cooked meat that many people think it has because of its color.
"Exactly"and a nod to me was followed by a "Hi my name is Marina and I cooked tonights Prime Ribs....Would you be so kind as to wait a moment, I would like your opinion." That kinda thing at Disney is always accepted. She explained to me, as she brought out another whole roast, that all the Prime Rib was Marinated. All but the one she held. And it would be the first non-marinated Prime Rib served at Chef Mickey's. And she wanted me to tell if I liked it better. I told her a big part of making me happy with prime rib is the thick cut, so I wanted her to cut it like she meant it. She did. So I did. Both with and without the coarse ground horseraddish and then with the juice. "Ah, I see the Au Juice has a similar flavor with the marinade". I am a Carnivore and my beef consumption is that which I rarely doctor with sauces and what not. So, I voted for the non-marinated as being better. The horse raddish did not clash with the other flavorings and If the flavoring of the marinade was wanted I could dress it. But It didn't need it. It could easily stand alone. It was as good as I have had anywhere, and coming from me that is saying quite a bit. She said go tell that young looking curly headed boy (manager) that you liked it. So I did. There isn't much point to this thread but I wanted to say something more about the first rate experiance I had at Chef Mickey's that I didn't expect. Perhaps some beefeaters out there can see this as a big tip for choosing a Character meal.

PhantomBantam,
Before I read your post, I wasn't hungry... :) I'm so glad that I'm eating at Chef Mickey's on this trip; I'll look for Marina. I've had 'buffet' prime rib at a few other places on property, and even though I ask for something as 'rare as possible' I've always ended up with something that *I* would consider to be overcooked. Thanks for the heads up! Bruce
