Which AK restaurant?

Which is better, Flame Tree or Tusker House? Or should we think about Rainforest Cafe (we've been to the one at DtD)? We have never eaten at AK so I have no idea where to go. We always go early in the morning then leave about lunch time, this year I am thinking about trying an AK restaurant for lunch before we head out of the park.

Re: Whick AK restaurant?

If you have never tried either I would DEFINATELY say that Tusker House is NOT to be missed. The smell of the rotisserie chicken alone is heaven, yet it tastes even BETTER! The mashed potatoes there tie for the best mashed potatoes in WDW (others are at Big River), and the veggies always taste fresh and tasty.

I will definately say that Tusker House is my favorite counter service in WDW.

Re: Which AK restaurant?

I've never thought about breakfast at an AK restaurant. I'll have to go look at the menu.

Re: Which AK restaurant?

It's truly our favorite breakfast on property, believe it or not. Our routine is to grab fastpasses to the safari and then head over to Tusker House for breakfast. We get our meals (usually the big breakfast with eggs, sausage, hashed browns, and a biscuit) and sit at one of the tables outside in front of the Dawa Bar. Then we sit back, enjoy our breakfast, and watch all of the harried guests run around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to get in line for the safari (it's mean. I know. I'm sorry. But it's true.). By the time we're done, our fastpass time has arrived and we go jump in a jeep for two weeks of animal sightings! The great part is, we're not really hungry for lunch because we had such a huge breakfast! :)

This past trip, we added tea from the new Asia tea cart to our breakfast--perfect on a chilly morning!

Don't let my mean-spirited fun get in the way of trying out Tusker House's breakfast, though, Stephanie! It really is quite good. Don't forget to get honey for your biscuit! :)

Re: Which AK restaurant?

Thanks for the advice, I think the more we go the less we rush around. We may have to try breakfast when we go. There are only a few things we want to do at AK so we should have some time to relax.

Re: Which AK restaurant?

I still find myself always recommending Flame Tree. It still stands out to me as one of our better CS meals in WDW. But then again I do like BBQ foods.

We grabbed a quick breakfast last year at Tusker House and I have never had such a delicious sticky bun - I still dream about it. It's the perfect place to eat while waiting for the Safari - and the chicken dinner is great too.

Re: Which AK restaurant?

I really like the Tusker House, but had to try FT with the recommendation of Mickaholic, and the past two trips went to FT. The ribs are EXCELLENT! You won't be disappointed with either.

Re: Which AK restaurant?

Well DT, maybe you could try Tusker House for breakfast and then Flame Tree for lunch! I know I really want to try Tusker House on our next trip. Everyone seems to really like it!
