Re: Dining Plan FAQ

I think the dining plan is wonderful.
When we went to WDW in 96 they had a food and fun plan, which was two meals and fun stuff.
We would have gotten the dining plan even if the it wasn't free.
For $37 per day per person, it is cheaper in the long run.

Re: Dining Plan FAQ

Now that they have the dining plan, do they still have the meal voucher at the AK? That was the best deal when we were there.

Re: Dining Plan FAQ

see now that kind of stinks too since we would use the vouchers for the character breakfasts and the silver plan wishes for our sit down meals- Im having trouble figureing out places to make it worthwhile now...all of the sitdown places we had saved the most at are now 2 meals worth and so are dinnershows- its getting harder to find the good tips on saving

But the initial info on this thread said you couldn't purchase the dining plan for a child under 3. So now I am confused. Can anyone clarify for me? Are the credits different?

I posted this quwstion a while back and I am sure it got lost within the thread, but does anyone know that answer to it? Do they differentiate between the credits?

We leave in 15 days and I want to make sure I order the dining plan for my daughter (2 yo) if there is no distinguishing!!!

Re: Dining Plan FAQ

You can't buy the dining plan for children under 3 b/c it is tied to ticket purchase and you don't pay for park tickets for those under 3.

I have a question that has been bothering me for a while. I know you can use your "key to the world" as a charge card if specified at check in. Now, if I have the dining plan, eat somewhere, and hand them my card, can I just say "I'm going to charge this to my room" or some variation of that, so that particular meal will NOT be taken off my dining plan? Or can that even be done?

I would like to be able to choose which meals I use, and which ones I actually pay for, but I don't know how that would be done or if it could be done.
We just got back and you can do exactly as you suggest.

For example, when we had about 3 snack credits left, I took a couple of bagels, a couple of donuts, and a couple of cereal cups up to the register, asked the cashier to put the most expensive ones on the snack credits and charge the rest to the room.

It was no problem. You technically get rung up separately for the credit purchases and the room charges, so you'll have two separate receipts, but it can definitely be done.

Similarly, you can decide that you'd like to put a meal on the room rather than use any credits at all. Just tell the cashier, although most will probably ask you first anyway.

Re: Dining Plan FAQ

Ok, here is one. I have a season pass. My wife is going to stay at the Pop and of course, me too. She is buying the dinning plan. Did I read that everyone MUST buy the dinning plan that is staying in the room? I registered her as a single for the room. Didn't think anything of it until I read this forum. I can't buy a dinning plan with a season pass. So am I trying to get away with something? or Who cares? I will eat her appetizer.....But don't tell her yet.

Re: Dining Plan FAQ

Maybe I missed this info somewhere, but....
If I am checking in on a Saturday, and checking out on a Saturday, when can I start using my dining plan? I plan to be at the park on Saturday am, before checkin time, then leave to check in. Can we use the plan on that day, before actaully checking in? If so, how - we won't have room keys yet - isn't that how they do it? I thought I had my plans ready to go, but now I have thought about this little aspect and got worried! Thanks!

Re: Dining Plan FAQ

You will have to check in before you can use the plan. All the info will be on your room key. You can check in anytime so if you want to use the dining plan that day you might want to stop at your resort before going to the parks.
