Question of the week: Hurricane Hanna's

OK gang, here we go again. A new storm formed this morning, Hanna, forecast to become a hurricane. This one looks like it's going to go straight through central Florida, perhaps 50 miles south of WDW, IF it stays on the projected track. If it moves north even slightly, it will roar right over WDW and my guess is it will be at least a Cat 2 hurricane when it does.
So the question is, how soon will they change the name of Hurricane Hanna's at Stormalong Bay at the Yacht/Beach to something else? Or will they just leave it as is?

Re: Question of the week: Hurricane Hanna's

By the way, the co-ordinates for the approximate center of WDW are:

28.3720 N by 81.5600 W (which coincidentally is the parking lot of the Yacht!).

Re: Question of the week: Hurricane Hanna's

Well, I don't wish a hurricane to make landfall anywhere but if the REAL Hurricane Hanna is destined to make a path across Central Florida it would be crazy ironic that there is an actual "Hurricane Hanna Grill" at the Beach Club.

It's way too early to assume anything but I would guess that if the storm moved across the state at any more than tropical storm strength they would change the name of the restaurant.

Didn't Universal change or do something differently in one of their attractions years ago because of a storm or tornado or something? I vaguely remember this.

Re: Question of the week: Hurricane Hanna's

It's going to be probably less than a week. So nervewracking.

I believe Universal delayed opening the Twister attraction because of the really bad storms they had in some parts of the country that year. If my memory serves...of course it usually doesn't

Probably next Wednesday or Thursday. The current projection is only 5 days out and it should just be getting to the Bahamas sometime next Tuesday, about the same time Gustav hits the Gulf coast somewhere around New Orleans.

I don't recall one way or the other. All I know is that Twister is a fairly lame attraction that replaced the fairly lame Ghostbusters.

Re: Question of the week: Hurricane Hanna's

Hurricanes often have a mind of their own so I wouldn't worry yet! I know some one who was at Disney during 2004 when all the huricanes hit and they said the lost out on 1/2 in the parks - the hotel never even lost power - Does that help you feel better? Alittle?

Re: Question of the week: Hurricane Hanna's

Peppertink, I think you are correct. I think they delayed the opening of Twister do to tornados in central Florida, that killed several people.
