character meals

This is our first Disney trip with young kids and were just wondering which character meals are recommended? My kids are 5(boy) and 3(girl). We already have Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast one morning. Some friends really enjoyed the Hoop de doo revue but Mickey's backyard BBQ looked cute too. Then there is the one at the Polynesian, I think? Help, too much to choose from. Also, we are going the end of April- is it too late to book a dinner? Any opinions on anything Disney are welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!

My vote is for the Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends. Plus the French Toast is sooooo yummy!

Re: character meals

I vote for Chef Mickey's! - But then again I LOVE MICKEY!

Crystal Palace for breakfast is good, Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto are at the Polynesian. Your son may enjoy Donalds breakfastosuraus (sp?) at the Animal Kingdom.

There is lots to choose from - Good Luck!

Re: character meals

I'm going for Chef Mickey as well- this was the first year we went for the breakfast, and both the kids(8 and 5) have put it on their "Must do's" for future trips!

Re: character meals

Mommyof2, we are also making our first trip this year with a 3 year old boy and a 5 year old girl (she turns 5 on the trip). Right now the character meals I plan on are Crystal Palace for breakfast, 1900 Park Fare for dinner and Chef Mickey's for breakfast.

We really loved Crystal Palace for breakfast. If you get an early seating before the park opens you can walk down a desserted main street!

I, too, recommend the Crystal Palace. The interaction with the characters is great. and the food is very good.

Re: character meals

I think the 3-year old would really love Crystal Palace, and the 5-year old Chef Mickey's.

You can't go wrong with either of those choices.

Re: character meals

My boys were 7 and 3 when we went in June '05, we did MYW w/dining, we really loved Chef Mickey, we did that for supper and breakfast. Food was great and we were able to see Mickey Mouse, Minnie, D/duck, Goofy and some others. We had the best time there!! The O'hana was fun for the kids also. Good luck cause there is so much to choose from!!! But I have not eatten at a bad place there yet!!! So I'm sure what ever you choose you will love!!! Plus you will be in DISNEY WORLD and it doesn't get any better than that!!!!

Re: character meals

We love all the places mentioned so far, but also would like to include the Garden Grill at Epcot. We have always had great character interaction, and the meal is yummy too!

We did this last year when we went the end of April. We had ressies for 8am and had a wonderful time visiting with Tigger, Pooh, Eyore, and Piglet. The food was good and the atmosphere just beautiful. Got finished with breakfast right before official 9am opening and headed over to Splash Mtn. Rode that 3 times in a row with no wait. Then rode BTMRR 3 times in a row with no wait. It was the greatest.

We did Chef Mickey's for dinner one night (early seating around 4:30pm). The kids (6 and 12) loved that, too. It did get a little crowded and pushy after a while. I even got a whole plate of ravioli knocked out of my hand and all over my shoes and the floor. The character interaction was good, though.

Whatever you decide, it's Disney - you can't go wrong! Have fun!

Re: character meals

The Garden Grill above the Land at Epcot is a very good place for character dining. Ask for a booth and the interaction is a little more personal.

Re: character meals

My partner both love Crystal Palace with Pooh and Friends. On our last trip, we discovered Ohana's breakfast buffet with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto. I think it is going to become a must do for us!
