Necessary to make PS Arrangements?

Hi! I'm new to this board but have been reading several posts.....:D We're in DW from March 28 until April 5 and just wondering if it is necessary to make PS arrangements now or can we wait until we get there? I don't think we'll be going to any character breakfasts but would like to do dinner at Boma's and a few others. Only problem is I'm not sure yet what day we'll be at a particular area so it's hard to make PS's.

We do have a res. for Hoop Dee Doo, but that's it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.....Do any of you go without PS's? Staying at POR!

Welcome WDWorls 2003

I would suggest making as many PS arrangements as soon possible. You can always cancel or just not show up and help out the folks waiting in line. This way you can eat where you really want to eat. If you wait until you get there you may not be able to get in.

I am saying this from my point of view. As teachers (DH too) we can only go during the summer when it is very busy. I am currently working on our daily plan so I can make our PS arrangements.

Have fun at POR, that's where we are staying this summer.

Welcome to DisneyCentral! I would suggest you get them as soon as possible, especially for any restaurants in the parks. There is no cost to make them, and no cost if you dont' show up, so what will it hurt?

I usually make our PS out about 60 days, and then plan around the PSs and early entry, and then make changes when necessary along the way. You are going during a busy time, so make as many as you can. I have seen Boma as long as an hour or more wait for those not with PSs, and that was during slow season. Many of the popular restaurants in the parks will just tell you tough luck without a PS. ( We were at Le Cellier one night and they were telling people 4 hours wait without a PS, which might as well be tough luck! )

Welcome! I agree, make the PS! If you make a PS for the first seating, you will never have to wait and you will have the best seat in the house!
We had a PS for O'hana at 5:10, when it looked like we would be rushed to make it in time...I called to push the PS back to 5:30 or 6. I soon found out that the only PS available was at 9:00! Needless to say, we moved our hineys and made it on time...and received the best seat in the house for our efforts.
For our whole trip, we had priority seating times. It was nice to have some structure to our day. I planned far in advance, too...and changed the times as needed as the time got closer.
Happy Planning!

Boma's and a few others do charge if you don't show....

I had a PS at Boma's and cancelled it as we were not sure what day we would be going...... They charged $10.00 per person if you did not show and did not cancel 48 hours in advance..... I believe there we a few others like this, too - mostly character ones.... That kind of shied me away from PS's - however, now I will make some quickly!!!!

Really? I know that they changed their policy in 2002. If you make a PS to dine on a maor holiday, they would take a credit card and bill you $10 per person if you didn't show up, but that was only on major holidays and at the EPCOT restaurants, California Grill, Flying Fish, Gulliver's Grill and Palio.

I will give them a call and find out.

Nope, Disney never requires a credit card for Boma or most of the other restaurants. Only a couple of the restaurants and on major holidays. The only holidays coming up would be Valentines Day and Mother's Day where they may take your credit card at certain restaurants.

If you are booking one of the dinner shows, such as Hoop De Doo, or Cinderella's Royal Table, they will require credit card deposits.

That's wierd - I know that's what they told me and took the CC #

She said it was because so many people want to visit the AKL Lodge and make PS's but don't use them - just use the PS to get in the Lodge. I made the reservation through CRO along with the Hoop Dee Doo...... hmmm....... I know she asked for my CC # for each reservation. I wouldn't have cancelled our original if I thought we were not being charged!

Just call dining and they can book it for you no problem. 407-WDW-DINE. You shouldn't have a problem getting any time you want this far out.

We made our Boma PS in late December, I think, and weren't asked for a CC.

Well, what are you waiting for?!?! :D

Being a fanatic planner, I've had a general 'here in the morning, here in the evening' plan layed out for awhile. It really helps with the PS planning. This said, though, I always reserve the option to trash the plan when it makes sense.

Happy eating! Hmmm...can't wait for Boma!

www.pscalculator.com for all you PS needs! We find that to make teh most of your WDW trip you have, plan and plan again! We're going in AUgust and already we're trying to map out our days as far as which park on which day. I'm not one to be real rigid and thrive on spontaneous activites but I have to give and plan ahaead for the WDW trips! But lets face it, planning the trip and the anticipation is half the fun!:)

I agree--planning a WDW trip is so much fun. I have a spread sheet ready with a rough plan of our days (which parks.... meals....) . Yet I am flexable with it at the same time. I think to get the most out of a WDW trip you have to have a plan. I have done it both ways and found that with a plan we make the most of every day by not waiting in line for 2 hour to eat at our favorite places.

I hope I did the quote right---this is only my second time trying it.

You got the quote right! The first tim ethat went as a family (July 4th week 2000 HO BOY!) we didn't plan much, except for some fo the meals. It wasn't a disater but it could have been planned better. Every trip since we leave on the earliest flight and leave on the flight closest to 8PM that way we have two whole extra days! :)
