The last time we were in Disney we had a problem with the dining plan. I mean, I loved it! The dining plan offered so much flexibility and offered us a great value! But there was one problem. Almost every time we sat down at a table service the waiter/waitress asked if we were on the dining plan. It seemed like our service was horrible if they knew we were on the plan and they were entitled to the 18% tip. The few times they didn't asked we had great service. My idea is to have the option of still how much your server should be tipped. On the recipet there should be a place to rate your server from 10-18% for their service. This would help provide more consistent service to guests. I have waitressed in theme parks before and am not being insensitive to the workers! I was just courious of others experiences and ideas on the subject.

We had no problem with service at all.
But, that is a good idea to at least be able to give your server a rating.

I had no problems with service when I had the dining plan and the servers knew it.

I am sorry to hear your service wasn't up to it's usual Disney quality. That just stinks. I haven't heard of anyone getting terrible service due to being on the plan. In fact, I have heard that servers have been going out of their way to make sure they use the most of their plan to ensure a bigger tip for themselves. I do hope you give it another try. Your experience is not the normal.

Sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience. We have used the Dining Plan loads of times and have always had great service. Hope you give it another try.

I would try it again, we have never had a problem with the service.

We had great service with the DDP, with the exception of our meal at LTT, where I'm pretty sure we just got a bad waitress. When we complained afterward at the front desk, the hostess rolled her eyes like she'd heard it about her before. You know the flip side for some waiters is that they know they're going to get a great tip (18% and your check is going to be large because of the DDP) so they are put into a good frame of mind to serve you!

Fortunately we've had great luck with our wait staff and the few times that a waiter/waitress went "above & beyond" for us to maximize the use of our plan we even left an additional tip.

But, your idea of a rating system (for all tables, I'd say) is a good one - even if it doesn't directly affect that tip it would let Disney know if the DP patrons are being treated any differently. Interesting...

We didn't really have any service problems when we used the DDP last year. The only somewhat less than stellar service we had came at Big River Brewing, Co. but I chalked that up to them being a 3rd party restaurant and not a Disney owned one.
