We are going in September. I have heard so much about Hoop Dee Doo. Can someone tell me what goes on, and why it is so good?
Also, my son is soon to be 4. He doesn't eat a whole lot, if any. Can we share our meals with him, or do we need to use 2 coupons for him also. We have never used the meal plan, but it come free with our visit. So, I need to figure out how this all will work. Thank you. ![]() |

Hey Pumpkin,
We're going to HDD for the first time next month. I'll be sure to let you know what I think! Most everyone on here had nothing but good things to say about it. Have you read the allearsnet info? Here's the link. http://allearsnet.com/din/hddcom.htm

Re: Hoop Dee Doo
Because it's family style-all you can eat (and entertainment), everyone over the age of 3 is charged. I had a similar situation when my son was 4- he didn't eat a thing, but I still had to pay due to the above reasons. In fact, my DS fell asleep at the table just about when the food was arriving.
Now, I haven't done the meal plan thing, but I am pretty sure you will have to use meal credits for him no matter what. You can call WDW and ask. Let us know!

Yes, I'm sure you do. It's entertainment as well as dinner and beverages.
But it is oh-so-worth-it! You won't be sorry. In fact, I'll bet you'll feel like it was worth every penny. We had one of the best times EVER there. The wait staff is in character. They deliver your dinner in tin buckets with a BANG. The entertainment is musical comedy that's hokey and fun and really quite enjoyable. They are quite good at interacting with the audience and making you feel like you're part of the show. The music is catchy and fun. And did I mention the food was GOO-OD?

Re: Hoop Dee Doo
We haven't been for many years. Show is (was) similar to what you might see at the Diamond Horseshoe Review (if this still exists) in Magic Kingdom, but more involved. Usually they pick a few people in the audience to participate. My girls were 12 & 18. The older one was chosen to participate. They also picked a cute little boy. Certainly something you should do once. We've done it twice and won't do it again until we go with someone who hasn't seen it such as the grandchildren when they are older.
Food is similar to what you get at the Wilderness Lodge Whispering Canyon. That is a restaurant that if you hit the timing right, can be quite entertaining. Of course, Disney does have a way of changing things...just when you think you've figured things out, and it has been a few years.

Re: Hoop Dee Doo
HDD is my favorite thing to do at Disney. The food is yummy and all you can eat. Beer and wine included. If your son is a really picky eater you can ask for an alternate kids meal but my picky eaters loved the fried chicken. The strawberry shortcake is great. The show is so much fun. It is kind of a vaudville type song and dance show but there is lots of audience participation with clapping, singing, playing with your spoon on a washboard, etc. Your son will love it. My girls ask to go every year.
