rate these Epcot restaurants
Since we'll be staying at the Beach Club for our next trip, we want to take advantage of the location and try a few Epcot restaurants. Never been to Le Cellier but have already added it to our must-do list. Was hoping for some input as to the order- from favorite to least favorite of the other countries we narrowed dinners down to:
Teppanyaki (Japan) L'Originale Alfredo di Roma (Italy) Biergarten (Germany) Akershus (Norway) Rose and Crown (England) San Angel Inn (Mexico)

1. San Angel Inn - the food isn't outstanding, but it is good. And the atmosphere can't be beat. 2. Biergarten - very good buffet, even if you're not a fan of German food, there's a good selection. Be aware that you have to sit with other people. 3. Teppanyaki - food is generally good - but here too, you sit with others. 4. Rose and Crown - I put it fourth, only because I dislike the next two so much. But the food isn't very good. Rather bland. Good ales and beer. 5. Akershus - I haven't been there since they've changed the menu. Be prepared to like herring - and reindeer. 6. Alfredo's - only restaurant at WDW I've gotten sick at. Noisy, crowded, over-priced, so-so pasta hidden under too much sauce. I notice you haven't put in Chefs de France, but it would definitely be my favourite right after LeCellier.

Re: rate these Epcot restaurants
I agree about L'Originale... It is more like a big cafeteria and I have had better Italian food, very authentic and much cheaper locally here in Pittsburgh. I've never been to Akershus, my DH absolutely draws the line at eating herring! The biergarten is good if you will eat those kind of prepared meats and cabbagy things. I like the San Angel especially if you get something besides the standard taco stuff. Why not try Morrocco?? I think their menu is pretty authentic to the area and what I have tried was very tasty.

Hey SSN, this is one of my FAVORITE topics... EPCOT restaurants!!! This is the way my list would place, and why: (from FAVORITE to least) 1) Teppanyaki: Unlike other restuants that offer an experience like this (Beni Hana, uhh umm) Teppanyaki IMO gets the food out faster to you, is better quality, and you DO NOT leave hungry. The Teppanyaki chefs there are very personable and talented. 2) Biergarten: I like the options on this buffet because if you dislike the meats there are great salads, breads and sides. Where else, besides Munich, can you sit and enjoy an entertaining show, meet new people, and eat at the same time. (and I promise I am not partial b/c my family hails from southern Germany )3)Rose and Crown: OK, this one I have nothing more to say than; I love Black and Tans, 1/2 yards of Guinness, Shepard's Pie, and Brittish boys. DEFINATELY not in that order. 4)San Angel Inn: If you are on the dining plan I like it because otherwise I would NOT pay as much as they charge for their main courses. Everything I've had there has been good but nearly $20 for some pork chorizo with black beans and rice is no deal. Alas, I am a sucker for atmosphere, Déme un río romatic, flores coloridas, y una venda del mariachi... and I am puty in anyone's hands! 5)Alfredos: Unlike may others, I actually really enjoyed the food here, especially the desserts. Although, on our several visits here I have consistantly felt rushed, overlooked by our server, and it is SOOO noisy in there. Has the potential to be a VERY unique experience but IMO fails in the delivery. 6)Akershus: I am just going to abide by the motto "if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all." ![]()

We love Teppanyaki but have been wanting to try L'Originale Alfredo di Roma but all of the reviews pretty much say go to something better!

Alfredo's is one of our favorites. Biergarten seems a little fatty to me, but I haven't done it yet to be honest. Akershus - the DCers have warned me away... Rose & Crown - nothing like a couple of Guinnesses subbing for a meal ![]() San Angel - you'll have to borrow Cavey's headlamp so you can read the menu, but the food is good.

Re: rate these Epcot restaurants
Thanks for all the input guys!!!!! I had narrowed the restaurants down after looking at menus on allears. I ruled out Chefs de France since DD will only be 6 and it doesn't seem like a place to bring a kid!
. Morocco's menu really didn't appeal to me at all. From what you're saying... it seems as though I can cross Norway off the list (herring's not a fave of mine either - although DH loves it!). Italy doesn't seem like a crowd favorite although the menu sounds really good. Noone said anything about Rose & Crown's food, should I just add this to a fun pit stop for a few coldies?? Thanks for the suggestions...keep 'em coming!!!

Re: rate these Epcot restaurants
I can comment on the ones we've been to:
Teppanyaki (Japan): we liked it very much. the food was good and the chef was very entertaining. I'd go back again. Biergarten (Germany): we tried this for the first time in January. We were surprised at how much we liked it. There were many varied food choices. I can't imagine that anyone would not find something to their liking. And of course, the atmosphere was fun. Rose and Crown (England): this place is a must do on our list for every trip. We like to go to watch Illuminations, but we enjoy the food, the waitstaff and the drinks!

Re: rate these Epcot restaurants
The only restaurant in your list that I have been to was Akershus for the Princess Storybook Breakfast and I really dont have any bad opnions of the place. Just seemed like a typical breakfast to me (this was Oct 2004), served in a skillet. The waiters were all very nice and the Princess, there were alot and very nice as well. Its just a over priced breakfast at Disney, IMO.
To each their own I guess.. A top choice though is Le Cellier, that food just melted in my mouth!!!!!!!!!! I got to experience this restaurant because we were on the DDP and boyy was I glad!!! This restaurant is OUTSTANDING! Our server was slow but that's about it, everything else was FaB! I would DEFINATELY go here again!!!!! And if your on the DDP, you simply cannot pass this fine choice up!!! 3 thumbs up! ![]()

My 7yr old DD enjoyed it very much last year. She likes steak and enjoyed her meal ANd her dessert!!! YUMMY! ![]() Ohh also, since you have a 6yr old..... check out the Garden Grill in the Land. It's a rotating dining room overlooking the ride Living with the Land and its a character meal. My DD enjoyed it very much and enjoyed the idea that the dining room rotates. She liked her meal and she got worms in dirt for dessert which she asked Pluto if he dug them up for her! The adult meal was "ok", we did it mostly for our DD and that we did not have a ressie for anywhere for dinner that nite, we just walked up and lucked out and got a table!

Re: rate these Epcot restaurants
Teppanyaki - I wait in lines all day at the parks, people sweating on me, listening to idle chitchat all day long. I don't want to sit with strangers during a sit down, full service meal.
Rose & Crown - The fish is actually pretty good here the five times I've been there, but the fish and chips at DTD is a lot better - nothing like a cold pint after fighting crowds all day. San Angel Inn - They make it dark for a reason - Americanized Mexican food ain't the prettiest dish you'll be served. Eat at Taco Bell - better value for the same food. Biergarten - If they only served Gossing Bier...again, not fond of sitting with stangers at meals. Alfredo's L'Originale - Open up a can of Chef Boyardee and save a $100 for a dinner of four. But the seating outside is nice if it isn't too hot. As I've said in the past, meals inside the parks are not delightful culinary adventures - it is simply fuel for the body. Save your money and eat your sit down, full service meals outside of the parks.
