Has anybody low carbed WDW?
I have been low carbing my weight off since August and I am proud to say 44 pounds are gone forever. However, I know I will probably not stay as stringent while on vaction, I was wondering if anybody has tried eating low carb at WDW. Any tips would be great! Thanks :weird:

My hat is off to you--congrats on the 44 pounds!!
I'm sorry to say the only low carbing I have done at WDW is my meal of all meat at 'Ohana! I'm sure you will do fine if you have been doing this since August. I don't have the will power to give up carbs. Good for you.

Wow! 44 pounds, that is great! Congrats! There is an article with suggestions here:
Low Carb dining at WDW Make sure you tell your server what you are doing, and what you are looking for. They see hundreds of people each day that have different diet restrictions or preferrences, and will help you find the best options for you.

Congrats on the 44 lbs Disneyholic!! WOW I started low carbing it in September and this post gave me some hope! I had just about resigned my self to the fact that I would have to give up the low carb while in Disney! But after checking this thread and the linnk Mickey provided I see the light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks!:)

Has anybody low carbed WDW?
We just returned from VB, which is not WDW, but I would think that you would find the restaurants would be on the same wavelength.
My SO is low carbing and she found that the servers were very in tune to this and very accomodating. As soon as she would ask to skip the starch that came with the meal, they knew the situation and offered low carb substitutes for the starch. At Shutters we had 2 servers, Jackie and Mary, who were well versed in low carbing and offered helpful tips for low carb dining at the resort. I am sure if you ask the servers at the WDW restaurants, you will find that they will be very helpful as well, especially since low carbing seems to be rapidly increasing in popularity. Happy dining! graybill

I've talked to lots of people who said that at regular restaurants doing the low carb thing is very easy and the servers and chefs are very accomodating. I have heard however that at shows like the Poly luau and Hoop Dee Doo that they need advance notice and the substitutions are pretty dismal. I've only heard this though I don't know it first hand.

Thanks guys! The link Mickey gave is cool!
I never even thought of Turkey legs...sounds like something I would do out here at our state fair! I will have to fight my dd off tho she loves the legs! That link gave me great ideas for snacks! I think we are going to be doing a few buffet type meals so I can choose the meat and such!Mattomouseman~congrats on discovering this new Way of Eating (WOE) I absolutely love it. I admit Christmas was difficult and I did have a few cheats, :o however I went back on induction and kicked started my losses again! Good luck to you! :)

I did Weight Watchers (well, still am, really) and lost 40 lbs. But my hat's off to you guys who still think about your diets while in WDW. That's a huge part of my vacation...eating whatever I feel like! So I just really get my weight down as low as possible leading up to the vacation, enjoy myself while I'm there, & then get serious again to lose those 7-10 lbs I put on in a week and a half! Probably not the healthiest way to do it physically, but mentally it really does wonders!

I'm doing Atkins. Try the buffet meals at places like Chef Mickey's, or Cape May Cafe. The buffets allow you to load up on low carb meats, fish, poultry and cheeses....while skipping the pasta's and breads. :)

My philosophy is this-I do the Atkins thing when I am at home, but when I go to Disney, all bets are off! There is just no way that I can stay on my diet when I go to Disney,so I don't even try.

Ohanna's "meat-O-rama" should fit the bill. Otherwise, I'm riding on mickaholic's dietary advise!

Guys,
Something must be wrong with us. When we go there we always lose about 5 to 10 lbs. But we tend to walk alot instead of taking the car. We walk about 70 to 80 miles in the week we are there. So the food doesn't hang on. We eat a good breakfast then a snack in the morning, a small lunch (we usually split a samdwich) and then some ice cream in the afternoon then a good supper. We don't hit the sodas at all. We have found out that water is lot more thrist quenching than soda. If we are in Epcot for dinner we will head for Norway or France for our dessert as we watch Illunimations. Then we take our time and srtoll around the resort after we get back to the resort. We found that most of the meals at WDW are alot bigger than we can ear alone so we found out if you ask for the child portion you get about what you want. I'll get the adult size and the wife will get the child portion and we will split the adult one.

Hey there... Wow...Congrats on the weight loss.
Personally, I'm not very worried about eating this and that while I'm there because, like disneycouple30, we walk LOTS. In fact, I find if I don't eat much I get tired with all of that walking. It's crazy. I don't think people realize just how many miles a person can put on in a day. And don't even get me started on the steps to the top of the mountain in Blizzard Beach! hee hee!

Our metabolism must be a lot slower or something. We walk a lot, & a lot of power walking at that, but I still gain weight. Of course I can't miss an opportunity for dessert on vacation. And of course there's always Beaches & Cream!

I usually don't lose the weight but I stay the same even though I eat so much. this year I am on the Atkins but we will see what happens. I don't really have all those cravings anymore like I used to.
