Picking Character breakfasts and other meals...

Hi all! I have picked a few character meals and I was hopping for some feedback... Please be brutally honest. These will be our first character meals ever and I want to have good experiences.

Chef Mickey's for breakfast(I picked an 8:40 seating, but I think I read somewhere it was better to go later, is that correct?)

Akershus Royal banquet hall in Norway for a Breakfast ( my 3 year old loves Snow White and my 2 year old thinks she is Jasmin)

Finally, the Playhouse Disney Luncheon at Hollywood and Vine in MGM (My girls love Jojo and the Little Einsteins)

I think I am most concerned about Akershus, we are not big Norweigian food people, but I thought I read somewhere that the breakfasts were just normal breakfast fare.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Picking Character breakfasts and other meals...

We always try to get the last breakfast seating for chef Mickey's. The reason is, you can go to the MK early and then head over to the Contemporary for a nice break and a good meal!

We have not gone to the Akershus breakfast, so sorry I can't comment.

We plan on going to the Playhouse disney one this fall.

Re: Picking Character breakfasts and other meals...

yes, breakfast is served family style and it's "regular" breakfast food. The lunch and dinner at Norway have the Norwegian food.

By the way, we loved breakfast at Akershus, the character interaction was soooooo much better than at the Castle!!

we love the crystal palace for breakfast. really any meal the character interaction has always been great it is pooh and friends. and the food is very good. we always have great service. last year just as pooh was coming around I ran out of film. even though my kids are older they wanted pictures. the waitress ran and got us a camera.

Re: Picking Character breakfasts and other meals...

We had a very late seating for Chef Mickey's (something like 10:30AM), and by the time we got there, most of the other tables were empty as folks wanted to get out into the parks early. That meant that we had a hard time actually eating because the characters had practically nobody else to interact with besides us, so they kept coming over! If you want lots of character interaction, make a later seating reservation!

Now, if you're an early riser, we love love love Crystal Palace for breakfast. If you get an early seating, you're right on time to head out into the MK as the park opens.

Great Choices.

Chef Mickey's - Our #1 for breakfast. We go for early breakfast, then to the parks. I like the early breakfast, sometimes we get extra Mickey time as they are seating everyone.

Akershus - A great breakfast and lots of princesses. A normal breakfast.

Playhouse Disney - I don't know if anyone has done this one yet.

Great choices!!!
Chef Mickey's - My DD and I just love it there!!! We had a late seating once (we walked right in, last seating), and then last year went mid morning and both times were the same, FUN, FUN , FUN!!
Akershus- we did this once before, my DD is a BIG princess fun and she just LOVED IT!!!!!!! Food was "ok", normal breakfast fare, those potatoes were interestingly good!

Playhouse disney at MGM- This is brand spanking new!
But we always eat at H&V for dinner for fantasmic pkg and I love it here!!

The only one I have done from your list is Chef Mickey's Breakfast and I L VE it!!! We do it EVERY SINGLE TRIP at some point! I have gone both early (7:30am ) and late (10:45am) and I do have to say the character interaction is much better later. But whenever you choose to go, you will just L VE it!!!!!!

Re: Picking Character breakfasts and other meals...

Well, we may see you at the Playhouse Disney character meal. When we went last year, we weren't sure how our then-20 month old twins would react to the characters. They went, like, bobby-socks-for-Sinatra crazy over JoJo and Goliath when they showed up for pictures.

If your little ones are into the Playhouse Disney morning shows, I'm sure it'll be great.

The Playhouse Disney meal is too new to get much feedback. We'll have to wait to hear from you!

You'll enjoy both the other character breakfasts. You may want to change Chef Mickey's to a later seating if your kids can hold off that long. The other benefit is they start putting lunch out before you leave, so you really do get a brunch meal.

Re: Picking Character breakfasts and other meals...

Allright, we finally got our Playhouse Disney Character B'fast booked for 9/17. I'll report back once we've experienced it. I'd love to see them add a Bear in the Big Blue House photo op, though.

Anyone know if this is going to be an on-going offering after the Magical Beginnings promotion ends?

I also recommend a later seating for Chef Mickey's. When I went in 2004 during the DC meet-n-greet President's Day weekend,we had a late seating and the characters were great!!
