Mama Melroses and Fantasmic

I just want to confirm.... This "package" is covered under the dining plan right? I know that Mama Melrose's participates with the dining plan but do they charge differently for the package with Fantasmic?

Re: Mama Melroses and Fantasmic

Yes, here's the sitch: When you book Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner Package they will get a credit card # and will charge you $10 if you don't show or cancel. If you are on the DDP Mama Melrose is one table service credit per person.

What's NOT clear (at least to me) is, when you pay OOP for MM/FanDP there's a fixed-ish menu like one flatbread to share, one entree and tiramasu. If you simply booked MM WITHOUT DDP you could choose, for example, another dessert.

bottom line is yes, covered and 1 DDP TS credit.

Re: Mama Melroses and Fantasmic

I have always had to give my CC# for every Fantasmic package. People should get charged for not showing and holding up the table. That being said, even with the special Fantasmic menu, momma's is my favortie place in MGM to eat. The flat bread is considered the appetizer and yes you do share it. They also have bread that is served around the same time. You also get the entree and then a seperate dessert. If you don't like the one they are serving, ask for the cheesecake. I have been allowed to substitue at no extra charge.

Remember that Mama's has gigantic portions... I think it's funny when they ask you if you'd like a doggy bag at the parks... no way I would carry around half an order of ziti in my purse! LOL!

Re: Mama Melroses and Fantasmic

Mamma's was so yummy, we were able to get two flatbreads and an entree per person and whatever dessert we wanted when we went in January. There were 5 of us in our party, 3 adults and two children, but one was a baby!

Re: Mama Melroses and Fantasmic

You get your meal (salad for the family to share, a flatbread--we got 2 for the 4 of us the last time we did this--, your meal from a condensed version of the menu, and dessert--We were given a chose of cheesecake or Tiramasu)plus reserved seats at Fantasmic so that you don't have to wait in the long line to get into the show. The reserved section is on the far left side, but you can still see everything fine. There really are not bad seats in my opinion. As dana said, the cheesecake is really good.

Re: Mama Melroses and Fantasmic

Ok, here is my first concern: zI booked the reservation, but never had to give my credit card. When member services opens on mondy I will have to confirm. Second, My inlaws are huge eaters, I think it is great that the portions are huge, but I was wondering... can we still eat at Mama Melrose' around dinner time (using teh regular menu) but not have the dinner package with fantasmic? I think we might be able to get better seats than the far left. What do you think?

Yes, you can eat there without the package. I think you will do just fine getting a seat regardless. I would queue up rather early for it to ensure that though. I like their nonFantasmic menu much more, so you won't be dissappointed. Let me clear up the big portion thing too. I cannot and won't ever be able to eat all the food they serve. I could have packed up the left overs and made another full dinner out of it...that's how big the portions are. HUGE is the only word to describe them. Your inlaws will be in love.

Re: Mama Melroses and Fantasmic

We have this package booked on the dining plan. I understand the menu is fixed, but what about a three year old?? Can you order something different for them, or are they stuck eating (or not eating) what is served?????

Re: Mama Melroses and Fantasmic

Hi there,
I won't eat either of the dessert choices but my DS will have cheesecake more than likely, has anyone ever given their dessert to another table? We get it for free and I would hate for it to go to waste. Maybe someone else could enjoy it?

Dana, when you say you would "queue up rather early for it" do you mean I should ask for a reservation early enough so that I still can stand in line and see Fantasmic? I assume I can find out now what time Fantasmic will run while we are there right? Would you think we need to wait in the fantasmic line for more than 45 minutes?

Thanks for the portion information, my inlaws will be in heaven!!!

Re: Mama Melroses and Fantasmic

Wow, lots of details.
As written earlier, you can book MM without FantasmicDP but you will need to get to Fantasmic! considerable earlier - some people say 90 mins to get a seat (there is standing room also at Fantasmic!) Remember also front seats are WET seats.
PS: If you inlaws are big eaters Hollywood and Vine is another possibility - it's a buffet.

If this wasn't stated earlier, Fantasmic Dinner Package people are advised to get to the show 30 min prior - soon after that they allow everyone entering the back of the show area to fill in the right (package) seating section.

As far as better seats than extreme right, I'd rather have extreme right 'in hand' If I could get it.

Question: Can you get the dinner package, go in that entrance then scoot over into a more central seating area...?
