DTD dinner??

I'm trying to re-arrange my ADR's for December, since I have 3 meals which are double TS credits on the dining plan. I don't really want to spend that much cash on food, over what we're paying for the dining plan. I had Artist Point, HDD, and CRT Lunch. I'm thinking of cancelling Artist Point dinner our first night and going to DTD. I know that there are big changes for DTD in 2007, but I should be able to do something there now right? And what would anyone recommend that is 1 TS credit that we could go to MK resort for dinner? I am thinking CM's, but we did that breakfast last year and didn't love it. Maybe somewhere at the Poly?

Also, if anyone is intereted, we have a 1:30 ressie at CRT lunch on 12/16 that I will be cancelling in favor of CP. I know at the time I booked, it was the last time spot available for lunch that day. If anyone wants it, let me know and we can work something out for me to cancel and you to call right away.

Once again, when I finalize my ADR's for the third time, I'll let you all know what they are!

Re: DTD dinner??

Ok, just a thought, what if instead of going to DTD our first night, we go to Boardwalk? We've never been there, and I want to see as many of the resorts as we can, since this is our first Christmas. Any ideas for a single TS credit dinner there? And how would I get to Boardwalk from WL?

Re: DTD dinner??

I'm sure you'll get an overwhelming response suggesting that you go to Spoodles at BW as your 1pt TS. MB'ers seem to love the place.

Also you asked what's a good 1 pt TS at a MK resort. Have you considered Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary? I'm not sure if you and your family are big steak eaters, but if so, this wouldn't be a bad choice at all.

As far as getting to BW from WL, as far as I know, the best way would be to take a bus to MK or TTC, and then a bus right to the BW.

Okay, I've never done the DP, but my favorite place in DTD is Bongo's. The Cuban sandwich is TDF!!!

Considering you are going at night, you can usually get a table upstairs with the band and the view up there is gorgeous!

Most people who know Cuban food avoid Bongo's. As I've said for years, any Cuban restaurant, owned by Cubans and operated by Cubans, that can't make a decent Cafe Cubano, and Bongo's can't, is not worth the time of day. If you're going to Bongo's for a Cuban or a Media Noche, you're also wasting your time and money. Get out the phone book and find yourself a real Cuban cafeteria. The food will be better and less expensive. I don't think Bongo's is participating in the dining plan either. You'd do better at DTD to go to Wolfgang Puck Cafe which is one TS credit, or House of Blues which isn't too expensive. Others are mentioning Spoodles at the Boardwalk, there's also ESPN and Big River Brewing Company (no ADRs, walk-up only). Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary or Kona Cafe in the Poly, or even 1900's Park Fare at the Grand Floridian would also be recommended. You might even consider Crystal Palace inside the MK. Final recommendation for DTD, eat lunch at Fulton's, it's less expensive than dinner and most menu items are available.

Re: DTD dinner??

Do you have 'Ohana in your plan yet? Because going to the Poly is a great idea, especially if it's your first night. I think the Poly is the perfect place to start your trip.

Think about 'Ohana or Kona Cafe...either one is delicious!

Re: DTD dinner??

Going to the BW at night could be an adventure, unless you love buses.

Depending on where you are and what time of the evening....

In the late afternoon, it's probably easiest to take a bus to MGM and then take the launch (or walk) to the BW.

In the evening, take a bus to DTD and then to the BW Villas.

Re: DTD dinner??

princesspooh, honestly, we just ate at Artist Point, and it was really fancy and stuffy. We could hear all the fun down the hall at Whispering Canyon (which is much cheaper!) and we were really wishing to be down there instead!
If you are trying oto open up a spot on your schedule, I would ditch Artist point...
