Royal Table Lunch - Use DP or Buy?

Hi Guys. I'd like your opinion.
The 4 of us have ADR at the Royal Table for lunch. Is it a better value to use the 2 Dining Plan credits per person to dine there or should we purchase the lunch at the $33.99 each and use the DP credits to eat at 2 other restaurants?

We will have to buy dinner one night we are there if we use the 2 credits at the Royal Table plus we will have to buy lunch on our last day.

Not sure which way to do this.
Thanks for your input!

We are doing the royal table breakfast and I just decided to pay cash. It was steep but I had a hard time justifying the meal to be worth 2 TS meal credits.

Re: Royal Table Lunch - Use DP or Buy?

Theoretically, if you paid for the DDP (not getting the Aug-Sept free dining), a TS meal costs about $22-23 on the DDP (after subtracting out the average costs of a snack and a CS).

So two TS credits cost you about $44-46. Just looking at dollars, any signature meal that is under this amount is a loss on the DDP.

BTW, we paid cash for the CRT lunch last year.

Re: Royal Table Lunch - Use DP or Buy?

We are getting the free DDP for our stay.

I think it would work out for us if we did a pizza the one extra night for dinner that way that extra dinner we need wouldn't cost that much but I also have to buy lunch on our last day too.

But if the lunch for the last day and the pizza dinner add up to about the same price as one Royal Table than maybe it makes more sense to pay for the Royal Table and instead of having pizza and a CS lunch we would have 2 more TS restaurants.

Is anyone else as confused as me? LOL

Decisions, decisions...

Lunch is $33.99. I think I'd STILL pay out of pocket for it.

And it's a 2-point meal!

Thanks for the actual numbers. I've been wondering about all this stuff, and having numbers helps. I guess HDD is still a good deal, but there isn't going to be much else worth using 2 credits.

I will say we all know it's not just about numbers--if you're blowing your meal budget by paying cash for a 2-point meal like HDDR or CRT it might be better to use the DDP. Just depends on the situation.

Very true.

And if you're under the "free" dining plan, you really don't have to think economically about it at all! So there's some definite variables.

Re: Royal Table Lunch - Use DP or Buy?

If you must eat at CRT, I'd suggest paying out of pocket and using the table credits somewhere else that's worth it, like Narcoossee's.

Re: Royal Table Lunch - Use DP or Buy?

I would pay out of pocket. I just can't justify using two credits from the dining plan for any meal. Plus, you get 2 "extra" meals, just from having paid for this one out of pocket.I am all about that!!
