Dining Plan Question

Hi. We are on the dining plan this fall and I have a question.
I am a vegetarian and not a big eater at all meals. So, if we go to a TS restaurant and all I want is a salad (or something small to eat) - or if they do not have a suitable appetizer & entree for me - while everyone else is paying by using a TS credit for their full meal, can I pay for mine with cash and save my TS credit for another time?
I would hate to use a full TS for a just $5.00 salad or soup.
Thanks for the help!

Re: Dining Plan Question

Yes, you can do that. You can use them whenever you want.

Re: Dining Plan Question

Absolutely. Just make sure your server knows what you are planning before you order. Won't be a problem. I think every restaurant at Disney has at least one vegetarian entree, appetizer, etc. Make sure you check on the menus before hand, might help in your planning:

Re: Dining Plan Question

^Nothing wrong with that. But I can see how being a vegetarian might not be beneficial on the dining plan.

Re: Dining Plan Question

Both my DS's were getting tired of so much food, so at San Angel, they both ordered nachos only, which is an appetizer. The waiter used the appetizers for our two meals that were ordered, so we had two extra table service credits for future use. Using the plan all week, I was totally impressed with all the wait service into how flexible they are in figuring everything out.

Re: Dining Plan Question

So if I eat light at 3 TS and pay cash I can save my TS meals and put them to better use with my hubby and kids who make full use of and LOVE the DDP TS meals. They would have no problem using them for an extra restaurant meal!
This might work out quite well.

...like 'Ohana? I'm quite carnivorous myself, but I jokingly refer to that restaurant as "the vegetarian's nightmare!" LOL. I'm sure they make arrangements to accommodate vegetarians, but all that meat hanging around has got to be quite icky to someone who doesn't eat it.

Re: Dining Plan Question

Are you strict vegetarian, or do you eat some fish? Many times, the chefs in the table service restaurants, and especially the signature restaurants, can easily accommodate special dietary needs. If you have questions, try to contact the restaurants directly.

Re: Dining Plan Question

Strict Veggy here - No Beef, Turkey, Chicken , Fish or anything else that had a face. Plus I am not a huge fan of pasta every night.
My hubby is a strict carnivore - he eats everything very rare -
As he says "Bring it to me moo-ing"
Plus he's a bottomless pit - he can eat the whole cow. Sometimes when we dine out I'll give him the meat or fish with my meal and eat the side dishes. Maybe this will work out with the DDP restaurants too.

Re: Dining Plan Question

Wow, talk about 2 opposites. Have them make a note of your dietary restritions when you make your ADRs maybe that way they will be prepared for you more. I know that they have always been great in regars to my famiy's nut allergies.
