Dining plan receipts 07

Hope this helps to evaluate the DDP. Just got back and had 6 dinners to use for 2 people. I chose 2 double up 2 of them (not the greatest use for a table service, but 2 nights we didn't need dinners and we decided to splurge...)

All were for 2 adults, tax and tip

Artist Point...137.81
Le Cellier...104.11
Chefs De France...110.40
Hoop De Doo...100.59

)Thats 37.74 per dinner, so everything else on the plan would be free!)

Counter service

Pecos Bills 26.25
Yakatori House...32.99
Pepper Market...37.87
Everything Pop...26.21

Some Snacks

1 dole whip float 3.72
2 Ice cream sandwichs at sleepy hollow...7.44
Box of Entemans Doughnuts...3.79

That seems to be what I have the receipts for. On the counterservice options, the register credits a default ammount on the plan, so I added up the prices myself.

Good Eating!

Re: Dining plan receipts 07

WOW! Great savings! Thanks for passing that information on. I will have to try and remember to save my receipts and add up my totals. I love to save money and something tells me that with a party of 6, I will be saving some major money with this DP....especially since 2 of the 6 are teenage boys!

Re: Dining plan receipts 07

That is some excellent savings!

I think the DDP is a great deal, I definitely want to do it. (DH wouldn't let me get away with NOT doing it - he just wants to go to WDW to eat I think! )

That's a great idea to save your receipts, I will try to remember to do that. I'd be curious just how much money we saved using DDP.

Can you imagine how much money you'd save using the FREE dining plan?

Re: Dining plan receipts 07

I truly love the DDP We all ate like kings the last time. I also have it this up-coming trip, but did notice that more "doubles" were added. It is still well worth it, and truthfully, I probably would not have eaten in some of the restaurants that I did if not for the plan.

GREAT idea to save the receipts! I was wondering how everyone makes out using the plan. I am on the plan for 5 nights during my December trip. I can't wait!

Re: Dining plan receipts 07

I'm still not sure how Disney does it. Last trip, our family spent $100 per day (2 adults, 2 children) on the DP. Not one of our FS meals was under $100 the entire trip. CS meals were usually around $50.

Disney has got to be make money on this some how.

I'm at a loss too. It seems too good to be true, really. I'm hoping that it doesn't end up being that way before I get a chance to use it.

Re: Dining plan receipts 07

Last year we used the dining plan. We kept our receipts and added everything up when we got home. We spent about $500 on the dining plan and ate almost $1200 worth of food!! It was great to see how much we saved. We ate "high on the hog" and enjoyed every minute of it. We are doing the dining plan this year again!

Re: Dining plan receipts 07

If you save your receipts, only the one you sign has the total on it. Yours will say 0.00. So to keep track I jotted down the totals in pen on mine before I handed it back it.

Also of note, the snacks are quite considerable now. I used quite a few on things I would have normally bought like a dole whip or an ice cream cone (not just a premade bar).

Re: Dining plan receipts 07

yeah- we bailed on CRT for dinner and took up the LTT instead so that we wont have any meals to pay cash for. Im still trying to figure out how to utilize them the best since I dont want to waste our adult meals on a not so hungry 11 year old but we are working on that!

I love keeping track-- I always have a pen on me to write it on my receipt since they don't put the total on the one they give you!

I am sure they are making money. If you get the DDP, you have to pay full price for the room and tickets in the package. Also, I am sure it doesn't cost that much to make the food. I am sure Disney is still making quite a bit of money still.

Re: Dining plan receipts 07

I was gonna say what Pooh Fan said - the money is made because the person who gets the DDP doesn't get a room discount...not everyone stays at the cheaper resorts - some people are forgoeing a 100 dollar a night savings (Deluxe) to get the dining plan...

also, not everyone uses all their credits, but they paid for them...
